Shocker Red Flagged Players

Bear had posted a 'Pet Cat' thread so I thought I would post this thread. Who are players that you have personally red flagged based solely on their play, not because of injuries, off field troubles, etc.? These aren't players you consider busts, because bust can refer to a player that has a solid career but never lives up to their top 10 draft pick. These are players you would not draft even though everyone else has them rated high.

Herman Johnson would be one of my shockers. At one time I was very high on him because of everything I had read. I watched a couple highlight films and walked away unimpressed but still had him rated high. Then, I found some LSU games around the internet, watched them and put Johnson on my undraftable list because I don't think Johnson will be able to cut it in the NFL; I picture him as a Kwame Harris.

'Why?' you ask. I'm glad you asked; let me tell you:

  • Johnson cannot handle quick defensive linemen. The spin move will do him in quite often but didn't always show up on the stat sheet because his QB would get rid of the ball within 3 seconds.
  • Johnson doesn't slide well. When you watch film of Robinson, you see a player that will quickly slide off his block to pick up a stunting lineman. Herman tends to stay put and merely stick his arm out, relying on his strength to keep his QB clean.
  • Even at his lowest, Johnson plays too upright because of his size, allowing defensive linemen to get under his pads with better leverage.
  • When Johnson gets his hands on a defender in the running game, he will destroy them which is nice, however he tends to focus so much on that aspect that he will neglect to look for more people to pop.
So that's my undraftable player, who's yours? Please don't come at me with highlights or nfldraftscout writeups etc. defending Herman Johnson, I've already seen them so it wouldn't change my mind.

Vontae Davis

I watched him as the Combine and he looked painfully stiff to me as a CB. He also looked like a "dog chasing cars" as BP used to say. Add in his brother's Mike Mamula like NFL career thus far and I put him in the box.

Feet of clay, cant play tackle. Too tall and not strong enough for guard, NFL DTs will get under his pads.
