Bus Cook has no idea what Favre will do

Posted by Michael David Smith on February 26, 2010 10:38 AM ET
No one knows whether Brett Favre will return to the Minnesota Vikings this year or walk away from the NFL for good. That includes Favre's agent, Bus Cook.

"We'll just have to see what he wants to do whenever he makes up his mind," Cook told Judd Zulgad of the Star Tribune. "I've never asked [Favre] about [the future]. I don't intend to start that now."

Cook also said Favre is "not even thinking about it."

That means the Vikings are in the difficult position of planning for the 2010 season without knowing who their starting quarterback will be. But Rick Spielman, the Vikings' vice president of player personnel, said the Vikings can live with that.

"Brett will make his decision when he makes his decision," Spielman said. "I don't want to get into what we're committed to and what we're not committed to because I think this time of year everything is in flux, everything is etched in oatmeal."

That means, Spielman said, the Vikings will just go into the off-season hoping Favre will come back but also leaving room for the possibility that Tarvaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels will compete for the starting quarterback job in training camp.

"I don't think it's tough," Spielman said. "I think everybody feels comfortable with T-Jack and with Sage. We have stated that we would love to have [Favre] back, but we'll just keep on going on going about our normal business and continue building our team as we go through these processes over the next six months and see where we end up."

Yes, Spielman said "six months." Be prepared to hear about the Favre comeback story through late August.

The usual drama queen act basically
I am amazed at how the Vikings are completely willing to be held hostage and that they are content with Tarvaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels if he actually decides to quit.

Is there really much drama here?

Seems like a safe bet that he's coming back. He always does, eventually.

Just do like me and wait until August after he gets done waffling three or four times and makes his annual dramatic announcement that he is coming back....again.

These threads crack me up. The only drama, or issues caused, with this Favre stuff is by the idiot media and silly fans who bother with wondering and discussing rather he'll be back or not.

Heres a revolutionary idea. If it bugs you so much what he does or doesn't do in regards to playing then simply don't watch things on him, don't read things on him, and, oh yeah, don't bother discussing him until the season rolls around and it's official that he is or isn't coming back.

It's really pretty simple.

If people would just go about their offseason and not worry about what Favre may or may not do then there wouldn't be any reason to cry about what he may or may not do.

They aren't content with those two. But what are you going to do about? You know you can't just go down to the corner drug store and pick up one off the shelf (or whatever BP's saying was).

What's amazing to me is that that they would expect anyone to but that they are content with those two. You can bet they'll be in the market for another QB should one become available.

If there is value for them in the draft I'd expect them to jump at it which would probably mean the end of the line for Jackson in Minny (IMO). Sage is just a backup, but a good backup IMO.

it's drama because he's holding the team hostage. do they draft a qb this year or go for another position If Favre comes back? I don't know why people get so annoyed by what Favre does. only people that have a reason to be annoyed are Vikings fans.

If the Vikings have a chance to draft a QB, who they feel has value at their pick, and they don't do it because of Favre's indecision, then they're morons.
