We just traded the 117 pick to Tampa bay. I guess there wasn't a 6th rounder we liked.

BTW, Yay me (I just made my 1,000th post)!

We moved back 3 picks and have selected 1/3 of our total players...and our draft is already a disaster?

Get a grip. Go take a break.

now we have 13 picks. What's the over/under on how many get cut? I don't have a problem with the guys we have picked, but there had to be someone jerry and co. liked that went right before we picked (other than Unger), so why horde late round picks that will be cut

I truly wish I could feel better about this but, seriously, for how long have we been talking about finding a replacement for Roy at SS? How long have we been talking about a real ball-hawking FS? A replacement to groom for Flozell?

So what do we do? We pass on those positions to trade down for more picks this year (not higher picks next year like, oh, maybe perennial contenders New England). And we draft a QB? I get that move last year maybe but not this year. We have perhaps one of the best backup QB's - a guy who might still start on some teams.

Just frustrating. This draft, IN MY OPINION, definitely did not "fall our way". I understand that some may disagree and I respect that. For me, the failure to address specific (some might say "glaring") positions of need is a total bummer.

13 picks in rounds 3 - 7. How many do we need? Why not identify the 2 greatest areas of need and trade UP with a few of those? Are we really going to turn over that many people at the bottom of our roster?

We've now picked an OLB, a projected Guard, a QB, and 2 DE's. I'm okay enough with the first two positions, but did we really need a QB and 2 DE's before more safety - even corner - help? Are we that sold on our WR's?

Because we do not get to "decide" to trade up. We have to find a team willing to trade down with us for what we are willing to offer. If there is no taker, then there is no taker. It's not like it is a decision we can make unilaterally.

I'm sure they tried to trade up and made some calls, but they couldn't find the right situation.

You draft the best players available. Ask the Cowboys how they feel about drafting Ebenzer Ekuban and Shante Carver because they "needed" a DE. When you draft by needs you fail. When you do what the Ravens do you draft the best guy available. What does it hurt? You get too deep at a position? Oh no. Wouldn't want that to happen. Fact is, this offense is going to be run first next season with two tight ends seeing a lot of touches. Our receivers are going to be the 3rd options and we should have enough.

Did you ever consider that the 32 teams that passed on people like DJ Moore and Rashad Johnson may have known things that we don't? Did you consider that the people who worked these guys out and see our players in camp every day decided that Williams could be a legitimate threat to start in the nickel, while the DBs would have been special teams and nothing else?

Mock drafting is fun, but if you take any of that nonsense seriously when the draft starts, you're going to be sorely disappointed.

Our scouts aren't sitting there on NFLDraftScout.com trying to figure out why Sidbury has dropped so far...
