Shoonmaker has got to go!

Everyone knows Trigg’s offensive capabilities. The question has always been his (in)ability to block.

Schoon offers nothing in the passing game and dude struggles to block. He must be a heck of a practice player. Now way I am keeping Schoonmaker over Trigg unless Trigg is hurt or a straight knuckle head.

Schoon has had his chance and so far simply has not done it
unless he makes a big step he is gone

I follow the draft probably closer than anyone on this message board. I’ve never heard or read that.
Jeff Legwold of ESPN article for 2023 draft ranking prospects.
65. Luke Schoonmaker, TE, Michigan, 6-5 ¼, 251 (4.63)
His description was spot on: not refined as a receiver but a blocker and multi-tasker.

Legwold, interestingly, had Mazi at No. 48 on the list...

When Dallas drafted Schoonamker, Dalton Schultz left in free agency and Jake Ferguson was coming off a 19 catch rookie season.

The Cowboys had no idea Ferg would emerge so they drafted Schoon out of need.
None of that is a valid reason to reach in the 2nd for a tight end that was old and isn’t good.

Schoon was a bad pick but not player. I didn’t see anything from anyone Trigg can catch and run routes. What’s his blocking like and can he play special teams?
Needs work at both. But name me an udfa that doesn't. Heck name me a player outside of top 10 who doesn't.

Not the year for this debate in my opinion.

Trigg looked better in a the few series he played than shoon ever has. This will show me if jerry is finally getting smarter and getting over his player coddling. Trigg has some serious upside and seems to also block.
Schoonmaker's value to the Cowboys has been as a blocker, not a receiver. As soon as Spann-Ford or Trigg can provide reliable blocking, Schoonmaker will be obsolete on the Cowboys roster. It's not just about receiving.

I am just the kind of guy, like so many here, that will stand up and say I told you so. I was screaming on draft day after they passed up on O'Cyrus Torrance to take Schooncrapper. Now one of the heralded graybeards in leadership here continues to remind that the team was in the market for a TE and Torrance was not on their radar.

That may be so, but the fact remains Torrance is a force and Schoonflopsum was a wasted 2nd no matter how you cut the baloney.

So hats off to me, the once in a lifetime prognosticator on a second round pick that is more self interested in showing off about his prediction than allowing this go fade away in history.

Being a person of low to no character rarely, but sometimes comes in handy.

On a 53 man roster, Schoon is probably fighting for the 53rd spot. He would've been gone last summer if he wasn't a second round pick.

Schoonmaker will be going nowhere, unless a desperate team is willing to trade for him.

Zero % chance he gets cut.
I understand that it's unlikely for schoon to traded, but the guy is below average and lacks any real strength. I just don't see how you don't go with spann ford or trigg over shoon if they keep balling... Some guys are ready to come into the league and contribute, it looks to me like trigg could be one of those guys with his abilities.
