The same reporters crying foul when Tom was fired were the same ones who wanted him fired. Yes, Jerry bungled the entire process but media's outrage revealed more of the media's failings of character than Jerry's. I still believe Tom could have still been a productive head coach if he was given talent. Gil Brandt failed Tom and the team.

Interesting look back on the days leading up to the purchase, and the fallout. Lots of press conference material. Was a very interesting watch.

Jerry's vision and decisiveness and conviction with what he said is why he was about to win 3 in 4 years...

But that's why I'm 100 percent sure Jerry will never sell the team. He's doing what he wants to do. Working in football is fun. And the key to happiness is often working in what you like....

Knowing this history is why I still support Jerry, as an owner. He hasn't always been the best. But he's gotten some of the best experience, and I think we are finally seeing the result of that. He's still pretty sharp at 80.

The thing is, this team isn't leaving the hands of someone in the Jones' family for a long, long time...

Landry made the Super Bowl and lost in 78.

He made the NFC Championship in 80, 81 and 82.

A 12-4 wild card in 83 and won the division in 85.

Mediocre in 86 and 87.

Was bad for one season in 88.
He won 2 Super Bowls in 28 years. Is that correct?

I was so fanatical back then first time I got to Dallas for a game after Jimmy was hired I went to Mia’s restaurant where Jerry and Jimmy met after that famous photograph of them was taken which spelled the end for Tom.

Now with Jerry as owner/GM I wouldn’t walk across the street…idiot. I just hate him.

You asked about 78-88.

If Jerry, in his WORST ten year period, gave us a SB appearance, four NFC Championship games, two other division titles and a 12 win wild card, the very few who complained would be wrong.

That aside, I KNOW you’re not comparing Coach with Jerry Jones as far as being a football mind or anything close.

Tom Landry is an innovator of the game you see today. Jerry Jones is someone who hires others and pretends he did it.

If they win the Super Bowl next year will you still hate him?
