A nice article from Broaddus at the mother ship looking at what's in the news and who we might want
to follow over the next few weeks.

Not many UDFA's will make the squad this year so start sifting the list and take out a loan and make
your own bets on who might just impress this year and push someone else off the roster.

Pet Cats
Today on our Talkin' Cowboys/Break radio show, I was asked who my Pet Cats were for the upcoming training camp. On offense, I went with receiver Deontay Greenberry. On defense, I chose linebacker Damien Wilson. What I liked about Greenberry is that I get that feeling he is fearless in the way that he approaches the game. There was that practice in the rookie minicamp when he showed no regard for his body by laying out for a ball before crashing violently into the
turf. What was outstanding about that play was that he still managed to catch the ball. From that point on, I was aDeontay Greenberry fan. What I like about Wilson -- and this goes back to his college days at Minnesota -- is that he would have made every single tackle had he not been held the majority of the time. This is a bold statement but Damien Wilson has a real chance to be this year's Anthony Hitchens -- mark it down.

Defensive pet cat is Chris Whaley. Offense, probably George Farmer. But after a week of TC may change this.

I would like to say Darren McFadden. But I think pet cats should be a rookie or 2nd year player coming off an injury or PS.
But DMC is given so much grief, he will be my veteran player pet cat. On D it will be Mo.

I was hoping big time for Chris Whaley but, it seems he didn't stand out much in OTA's and may still be hurt somewhat.
George Farmer was given some money but, I think he will have his hands full with other receivers if he is going to
make the practice squad.

I think a WR is the most likely spot to see
a new undeafted face. If one of these guys can step up on special teams that to me is the key to opening the door

We have so many youngsters with impressive talent that I haven't settled on anyone in particular just yet.
Now that training camp has gotten underway, I'm quite sure some will stand out enough to get my attention.

I'm anxious to see some of the relative unknowns like Farmer, Whitehead, Reggie Dunn, Seastrunk, Corey White, Damien Wilson, Tim Scott, Ryan Russell, Efe Obada, Mark Nzeocha, Laurence Gibson, Geoff Swaim, Ray Hamilton, Antwan Goodley, Deontay Greenberry and yet others as well.

Naturally, some of the most notable guys like Byron Jones, Randy Gregory, and La'el Collins are bound to be attracting my attention, not too much unlike practically everyone else who who follows America's Team.

Whaley is a good choice.

I would say that a pet cat can be anybody, not just 1st/2nd year guys.

Mine:

Whaley and Ken Bishop. I'm also interested to see Corey White.

All of the RBs. Weems and Collins.

Yes they can be any player, but this is just my preference. Or I try to keep it to that.

I would like to see someone step up at DB and DL. We need one WR who can play STs. We need to continue to improve our depth.

I pick one of Bishop, Whaley or Russell at DL. Not sure about DB.

Tony Romo. I think he's going to be pretty good.

I happened to be hanging out with Sean Lee last night before dinner and we were visiting about the offseason when Gary Brown and Darren McFaddenwalked by. Without stopping Brown told Lee to please take it easy on his running backs, especially in the one-on-one pass blocking drills. In typical Sean Lee fashion he fired back at Brown and McFadden: "Don't count on it." It’s great to be back in Oxnard.

Gonna be nice to have Lee back in the lineup this season.

Mine are Lucky. (Please dear Lord be good or our ST's will suffer bigtime!)

And Gus Johnson. We need a Cinderella story to come out and Alfred Morris the league!!
