Shotty Expectations and Longevity

What are Jerry's expectations for the coming season and the tipping point for our next HC change? My guess is that if we don't go deep into the playoffs after Jerry's strong off-season retooling, I think Shotty may be gone. After all, Jerry did say he wants to win four more SBs, so I doubt he's going to allow any coach a long tenure without results.

I think Schotty will be here as long as his contract. Winning and losing aren’t the keys. Jerry doesn’t like paying someone off who’s gone.

It’s why he didn’t fire Big Mac after the GB playoff disaster. Mac had one more year on his contract. Big Mac wasn’t fired at the end of 2024 - his contract expired and they didn’t agree on another.

It’s also a big reason why JJ kept Garrett after three straight non-playoff 8-8 seasons from 2011-13. Garrett had one more year on his contract in 2014 and it produced a 12-4 playoff season and Garrett was given a new contract which ran out in 2019. He was not fired, they just didn’t extend his contract.

My prediction is Schotty will be here until his contract runs out, regardless of results.

Anything better than 7-9-1 and Schottenheimer stays.

How many HCs get fired in their 2nd season after improving from their 1st season?

Coogs must have a lifetime contract......

Jerry must be fair with Shotty and allow him due time to establish himself. Being a HC under Jerry is tough enough to be given at least a few years to coach a winning team. Let's just hope Jerry does his part in creating that sort of an environment, also. Continuing to sign good talent would surely help to enable a championship contender. I'm hoping the upcoming draft helps that worthy cause.

As long as he’s around .500 and keeps talking about crying with his players, people will talk about how he’s building the culture. This fan base is predictable.

Jerry doesn’t care if we win or lose as long as the fans remain invested.

Fan Myth.

Good question, but then again, Jerry fired his back to back SB winning coach and ruined the chance to win 4 or 5 SBs in a row because he wasn't getting the credit he thought he deserved.

30+ years says you are just being a contrarian troll again.
Just like you are trolling now I guess.

But I don't troll, only in your own head, I tell the truth. And you don't like.
Jerry does care about winning. He just is not great at building the right team. So fans cope by saying he doesn't care.

Maybe this will be one of those threads where members put aside what they want and try getting inside Jerry Jones head instead. Mad Genius has a (now) 37-year track record concerning head coaches.

When it comes to head coaches, young narcissistic impulsive Jones died at 57. That was when he pink-slipped Chan Gailey. Not-wanting-to-be-seen-as-incompetent-firing-head-coaches-too-quick Jones was born. Mad Genius did not kick Dave Campo to the curb because he was a piss poor hire from before Day 1. Nope. He bounced Campo to get AT&T Stadium.

Since 1999, the narcissistic-and-patient Jones era has demonstrated what will likely happen with Brian Schottenheimer for as long as he has any say in the matter. Four or five years minimum unless The Paintball Coach loses the roster beforehand.

The most important thing is that no one should apply their belief in life onto Jones. He could not care less what his age is. That is a mistake observers have constantly thrown into conversations since Jones hit his sixties.

He does not think like you do.
