When Shotty was hired, I among most Cowboy Fans weren't too thrilled with the hire but I have to admit, he has done some good things and has done better than I expected. HOWEVER, him saying after looking at the game film on Friday that he didn't see Pickens dogging it or showing a lack of effort on his part and he even gave him an excuse that he was being double teamed! WHAT?? I saw one double team on the 3 plays Sherman was talking about which clearly show he was just plain out taking the play off! If Shotty doesn't have the guts and the balls to call out players for a lack of effort, he is toast and won't last long as a head coach! Quit trying to be their best friend and show these guys a tough SOB who isn't going to put up with a lack of effort or else! Can you see Jimmy putting up with this type of B.S.? Heck no!!!

Schotty is another Jason Garrett! Identical. This team will never go anywhere as long as they have a "best buddies" type of coach. Schotty is the opposite of his father, Marty Schottenheimer. Marty Schottenheimer would yell at his players and be on their butts all the time in order to push them to become better. Schotty is the opposite. We've got the wrong Schottenheimer as head coach.

You can't play not to lose against a better team and when you are behind on the road.

Kicking on 4th and 4 before the half and again on 4th and 3 late in the game, were both critical mistakes.

heres the thing, IMO. Schotty cant say something on Friday that is the opposite of what Jerry said on the radio 3 days earlier.

Nobody said anything about a head coach calling out his players in the media. What I did say is this team needs a head coach who gets after his players and stops trying to be their best buddy. You are there to be their coach who will do what it takes to light a fire in them so they can become better players, not be their best buddy.

Pro Sports probably the only industry where the Unions actually did win. LOL. Player work/life standards versus 30 years ago... MUCH higher pays, they control the moves and PR, elevating salaries every year, constant protection and safety issues added, tighter merchandising, and the screamer coaches have been booted. Slightly different in every pro sports, but overall theme is same.

So, you want him to throw a player under the but, to the media? The way coaches break down film and play is different than the way a pissed off fan, looking at mannerisms and not technique, between the whistles, looks at film....

I get it. They want to like him. They want to believe he can save us from ourselves. It's the same reason why Stephen was once thought of positively and Will McClay as well but to me Brian Schottenheimer is nothing more than Dave Campo with a tape worm.

In fairness, no head coach is set up to succeed here. Not at least until we get Jerry in the dirt. But he also did nothing as an assistant coach to make anyone who is rational think he deserved to be head coach. In fact I remember when the news dropped that McCarthy wasn't coming back my first thought was well his flunky Brian Schottenheimer is gone too.

He's here because he's weak. He's here because he was desperate for the job. He's willing to fall in line with anything the lunatic owner wants.

Definitely feels like Jerry Jones is the puppet masters sometimes and we sit here and argue about coaches and QBs that no one would take serious on their team, because it's the best we have until the GM/Owner steps aside.

I got a really good laugh when the thread anointing him as an elite coach popped up either last week or the week before. The guy has 13 games as a HC - that's it, and his record is a very Garrett-like (read that as mediocre) 6-6-1. I will never understand how anyone could make such absurd claims about someone who is at the very beginning of his HC'ing career. And just like Garrett, this could be his one and only HC gig. No one else wanted him as a HC, and he had 27 or so years coaching experience
