Should all QB's be red shirted?

With the NFL putting more emphasis on protecting the QB and two huge game effecting calls in week 5. Brings up the question about what the NFL should actually do to protect the QB.

Our defense main strength is rushing the QB, so I'm sure these calls will affect us in one way or another this year.

I've heard the red shirting the qb suggestions, but that would just about kill pass rushing. They also can't go back to QB's getting destroyed in the backfield...

What do you think should happen?

Examples of the calls...

Maybe putting more social messages on the back of their helmets would distract the players from tackling them too hard……we all know how important to the game those are.

While watching a game last week I had my neighbor in the cross-hairs but just as I was about to take him out I saw the back of the quarterbacks helmet and it said ‘ choose love”….. and I decided to wait till after the game was over to hit him with a paintball

I dont understand the red shirt statement. In preseason its meant as a no contact signal. If used in real season it would be like putting a bullseye on the poor guy. If I was a qb I'd refuse to wear it

Well I was watching the giants GB game and he took 2 really hard hits after he threw the ball.
This could and should be corrected.
It is also up to coaches and players to do this on their own, or to have the league make some weird rule.
I doubt coaches and players would stop this , so it will be a rule.

They dont need to hit the qb, just grab him. at that point he is either down or if he has thrown already, he is just grabbed instead of hit.

I dont get anything out of seeing qb's knocked out of a game due to a hit , I would rather see them play.
1 hit could end their season or career, just so some DL could say look how I whacked that sucker.

qb's are often hit in a defenseless position. There is no need for it.

I think they should do what Troy said, and "take the skirts off".

This is TACKLE football.

I understand the league wanting to protect their breadwinners (QBs), but it's beyond ridiculous at this point.

Yet hitting the qb is part of the game of football and that should never change.

My point is the NFL needs to stop flip flopping on the rules, calling weak stuff just hurts the game.

Either go all the way and put qb's in red shirts, or revise the rules to where qb's aren't soo protected like they are now.
