I know everyone has heard this phrase before and a lot of teams have lost when they play like this but should we maybe get back to that style of football?

Dallas just seems like such a great team but if you don't pulls the reigns in at times than there is a big chance we will beat ourselves.

IMO the Giants played not to lose Sunday and we ended up handing over the game.

Im about to go watch the game again for the 1st time since Sunday and i'll post a few comments in this therad afterwards.

The weather down South is amazing right now. That football feel is in the air and i'm ready to get to Monday night and get some of this bad taste out of my mouth from last Sunday.

It's kind of hard to believe that people are still saying this.

Its Friday........5 days since the bad loss.....move on.

Its all about the Panthers now, and the Broncos after that. I don't think there is anything left that has not been written/discussed on this board.

They just need to do what is working and not try to get cute. If the run is working, KEEP RUNNING until they stop you. Stick with what's working for a change...

NO. NEVER. EVER play not to lose.

You play smart and aggressive - if you have the personnel to do it but we don't, so we just should just play smart - which means run and run with screens and safe hits to Witten and Bennett and shots to williams and austin and crayton off play action etc.

This was so evident in the Giants last offensive play where Eli got them close enough to just do the field goal. TR needs to take this mentality and sometimes throw the freaking ball away. As many games as I've watched where Tony is playing I hardly see him throw the ball away instead he's always forcing the ball into tight areas where many defenders are at...like SUnday...Hey Tony didn't you see some defenders shift to the RIGHT howbout you throw to the LEFT geez it doesn't take brains to see that the Giants shifted defenders to the RIGHT yet that's where you throw too????? just supid man very stupid.

It's been said in this forum before, if we had Parcells and his offensive philosophy on this current squad, we would be 2-0 and would have a real shot of making some noise. This team is too talented on offense to turn the ball over playing "high-risk, high reward" football. We should play conservative, Bill Parcells football because we have a great offensive line and possibly the best running game in the NFL. Too bad the Tuna isn't here.

When you play not to lose, you usually end up Losing. That's how Romos first playoff game went down. Parcells was just settling for getting a FG instead of trying to put the game away with a TD & FATE stepped in & showed him why you play to WIN.

Yeah but this team is way more talented than any team Parcells had when he was in Dallas. If you put the 03' Cowboys defense on the current Cowboys offense, except with Parcells' conservative offense, you have a chance to do something special. Parcells quit on this team just when Romo was about to blossom.

I dont think the Cowboys should play conservative If that's what you mean by playing not to lose.

I think Garret should just control the pass plays a little better and try and not put Romo in a tough spot. But by all means dont stop us from attacking.

What i think is that We should be more of a run team...Delay handoffs, draws, pitches and screens. And also use the TE's more. I think it's clear our TE's present a bigger threat then our wr's at this point. Get Bennett more involved.

Oh I'm not denying that, just giving an example of how playing to not Lose ( like Parcells did in that game ) usually ends up costing you the game.

Oh I hear you. The Seattle game in 05' comes to mind right away. We had Seattle by the throat and Parcells never went in for the kill. In that instance I can see taking a shot to put Seattle away, but Parcells never did. That game still stings...

I never believed in deviating from your style of play and what works for you in your designed gameplan. Right now, it is a balanced attack.

If you ask if we should pull in the reigns of Tony Romo, then answer is no, not at all. The minute you do that, then it shows a lack of trust between coaching staff and players, and lack of belief in who you are as a team.

I think that if you take what a team gives you,you will win the majority of the time.If a team is porous up the gut,you exploit that weakness. If they give up alot of yardage in the short passing game, you exploit it.There is no blanket rule as to how you game plan every week, for every team is different.Kinda like the loss last week,a close game at the end that ultimately led to defeat.Yeah I know there were alot of mistakes made throughout the game, but think about this. The rules of the game today favor the offense, any defensive penalty will kill you.The rules of the game promote scoring, the league believes more scoring equates to more fans.More fans generate more revenue which is the goal of the league. It seems that a team up by 1 with under 3 minutes to go is asking for a loss.Obviously not all of those games will end up in a loss, but I don't like the odds of a defensive stop without a very stout and disciplined defensive unit.
