Should Dallas take a shot at Greg Hardy?

He is on the exempt list and was franchised with no extention last offseason.

Has a series of domestic violence charges right now and goes to court in November.

Do you think Dallas may take a flier in the offseason. He is one domestic violence conviction ( assuming he gets convicted in Nov) away from a lifetime ban, but he is also one of the better pass rushers in the NFL.

He's a guy I'm kind of conflicted on here

Assuming he isn't suspended next year, Carolina will keep him.

To me it boils down to whether you think it's likely to be a recurring problem. I don't particularly care whether he's a good guy or not (preliminary indications obviously suggest that he may not be) if he can help the team. But that's precisely the concern: he may hurt more than he helps if he can't be relied upon to refrain from conduct that will get him suspended and intensify the circus atmosphere surrounding the team.

And thats the point im conflicted about with him. Is he gonna be a Charles Haley or a Pac Man.

Going back to 2008, we were easily the most talented team in football. But the Pac Mans and the Tank Johnsons and TO's destroyed team chemestry to the point we got destroyed by a far inferior Eagles team

He isnt under contract next season.

Isnt he suspended now?

He is not currently suspended right now by his team or the league. He is on the exempt list. He is also appealing his guilty verdict that the judge gave him and will now go through a jury trial. Dallas can go another direction.

He's a little large for a typical marinelli DE. Not sure if he's someone we're attracted to regardless of off the field issues.

I feel like this particular player was brought up on a thread a few weeks ago and there was a consensus. And while the Cowboys have recently taken chances on just a couple of players with off the field issues i.e. McClain, and soon Brent, the really did their homework with McClain and they've been able to keep tabs on Brent. Hardy is not worth the risk, and he is not a RKG. What gave balance to the McClain experiment was that at the end of the day, he loves football. And that's really what a RKG is, I am not sure the same can be said about Hardy.

I have to say: this strikes me as odd reasoning. Ro's multiple retirements at a young age don't reflect negatively on his love of football but you're concerned that Hardy's domestic violence issues do?

I can't say I'd have any interest in this guy.

I look at it like this. You're not a man if you punch a female. Lately we've been a team of men. We punch people in the mouth and throw them on the ground. We don't care if we hurt someone. But we don't tolerate bad guys. We throw them against the fence and punch them in the ribs. If you get criticism for being a dirty player (ala Suh) then we embrace you like our brother. Who cares if we break bones of players on other teams? But if you get criticism for hurting an innocent female, then let us know your address so we can go hunt you down. I don't tolerate non-men. I hope guys like Dez, and Tony, and DeMark, and Fred, and Tyron (and Suh) don't either.
