Should Jenkins Get An Extension?

He was really the only secondary player that was consistently good all season. Problem was he was in and out with injuries. When he was healthy he played very well like he did in 2009 problem was no one else on the secondary did. Should the Cowboys sign Jenkins to a contract extension or wait?

Hands down the best CB on the team for sure. Will I ever be able to trust him after the season he had in 2010 if I give him a ton of money - NO!

Don't know what to do with him unless I get a great trade deal.

Wait and see how he plays this next season. If its to the clubs' liking, then sometimes in late October, early November, extend him to a market-friendly deal.

nope

there are players you can count on to work hard and produce, no matter what, like romo, ware, lee, rat. these you can extend early.

then there are players who cannot be counted on to do that and jenkins falls in that category.

if he takes the deal we gave scandy i have no problem. But the thing is can we trust jenkins no to slack off like he did in 2010?

this. This is also why i do not want to extend spencer. He is one of those players.

This. I will never forgive his 2010 play either. He is the best CB on our team and he can be really good sometimes but he is injury prone big time and is scared to tackle from time to time too.

He was one of the biggest quiters on this team in 2010. I'll pass.

Bingo. I don't care for quitters! We pay you millions of dollars to go out on the field and play at a high level.. then that is what we want to see out of you. Even if your team sucks. He stole from us in 2010 and hasn't paid it back yet.

Say what you will, the guy was a warrior this year. The first Giants game alone should have dispelled the myth that Jenkins will not leave it all out there for the team.

Does that mean he should be extended? As always, that will depend on the bid and the ask.

I'll never forgive him for that green bay game in 10, we don't need players like that.

Well in fairness pretty much the only player who didn't quit in that game was Dez Bryant.

lol @ folks acting like Jenkins is a 'never-was' like Spencer or Scandrick

I forgive him but I don't trust him enough to invest millions and years in him!

If I were Jerry, I would be looking for a nice trade in the first round from a team that really liked him!

Yeah, because we can just slide Ball in his spot.

If by best you mean a guy that has no problem flat out quitting when the chips are down, id say our standards have really dropped around these parts.

Yep, I would do it in a heartbeat for a good first round deal before I locked him up for 5 years at 50 million.

You can scoff if you want but I can go out in FA and get a guy I can count on - he may not be quite as good in coverage but someone I feel comfortable investing in!

We're talking about this past season, you know, the one where Jenkins was the only DB not getting burned to a crisp
