I've come to the conclusion after this Rome deal...the Cowboys window of opportunity is open for this season and maybe the following the max.

So with that in mind-....Should we go for broke and trade our 1st in 2014 for a high 2nd in 2013?

Just a thought.....

With so many needs perhaps SF would deal 2/34 for a future #1???

I'm not opposed to trading around, including moving our first-round pick in 2014.

I don't think we have a lot of needs, but what we need is a handful of high-quality players. We can get that in this draft by upping our picks in the top two rounds.

Why would you want to screw up your draft.Screwing up their drafts have been a big part of the problem here.

i say this year, let the draft come to us. Any one player at that spot will help us, whether OT or DL or even safety., than after the draft if there is a good bargain in FA have at it and than let this offseason slide into TC and concentrate on what we have.

With our defense making huge changes, its going to take a year or two to get all the right pieces into play.

For some unknown reason I think the OL will do ok. Not great, but maybe just enough.

I think if we can buy Romo a second or two we will see a difference.
Also the same on defense, if we can get Ware a second or two, thats going to help.

For rght now we did what we had to do with what was on the table plain and simple. Our biggest changes are going to come on defense. I think Callahan had the line doing well at the end of the year with one or two pieces he just couldnt get changed. HE has that time now.

If defense pans out with the people we brought in, thats going to help the offense greatly and Romo will see the benefits.

The biggest problem we have to tackle in the camps is red zone. I feel we need more plays to attack the red zone and be more successful. Whether punching it in or getting to the corners, we need to attack that red zone.

No it is not worth it. I don't know how good next year's draft is, but no one will fall that far worth that kind of move.

With the Cowboys cap situation in the next few years, they will need to rely on draft picks more (lower cost solution than older players). Given the poor cap management and borrowing from the future to pay for today approach - the Cowboys will have to start letting talent walk. So trading away future high picks might not be a good approach....you would absolutely have to hit on all picks or you just gave away 3-5 years.

They haven't and they won't. People don't understand restructuring, so they make statements like yours which aren't not based on fact.

If you're referring to QB window, I think it's most likely 3-4 years. Optimist woud say six. But let's say 3-4.
Otherwise, there are about 15 guys on this team (plus 6 more post draft) that are very young and have upside. u
In other words, it's the opposite. They are building for the future. Dallas' best short term chance is probably 2014 or 2015, imo.
