Should Mo shadow Green?

With Eiffert out again I really think we should put all our focus on stopping AJ Green. No way Carr can match up with him, that's a disaster waiting to happen. Like a Megatron 300 yard day sort of disaster. I know Rod doesn't normally shadow but I think we should Sunday. Thoughts?

Yes definitely, also need to double him. with Lawrence in the lineup we should be effective

I'd copy what Minnesota did against Beckham. Linebackers or a safety underneath with a cornerback on him, or a cornerback on him with a safety over the top. Just make sure he doesn't beat you. When Green goes over 100 yards, the Bengals win. When he doesn't, they don't.

who is the next biggest receiving threat behind green granted eifert is out

I know they won't do this, but I'd actually love to see Jones cover him some. I think he's our best man-to-man corner.

But we know what will happen. Carr and Mo will stay on their sides of the field, regardless of who is there. If they didn't adjust that for Beckham or Alshon, they're not going to for Green.

No, I'd put Mo on LaFell one-on-one, and let Carr have Green with safety help over the top. If that doesn't work, then switch Mo over.

Isn't this similar to what they did with Deion? (I'm comparing fundamentals and game plans not players) let 21 take the 2nd threat and double the #1?

Yep, at times. That's what teams usually do to Dez.

Green is such an outstanding route runner that you have to double him over the top. He'll bait you. Let Carr cover all the short routes, and let a safety roam deep.

If Tyler Eifert plays, that could be a lot more difficult because Jones will take him. That leaves Heath or Wilcox to cover deep on Green. (I'd even think about Scandrick to play deep on Green if Eifert plays.)

Marinelli doesn't usually move his corners around. I'd be shocked if he did so on Sunday. The good news for us is that our defense plays its best by bending and not breaking and keeping teams out of the end zone-- and Cinci is 31st in the NFL in red zone efficiency.

I think they will move the ball pretty effectively against us-- but if we can keep them to FGs and not TDs, we have a chance. I just don't see the personnel on this D to really stifle the Bengals and shut them down. We are what we are-- a scrappy D that plays it's best football when protecting a lead and defending the red zone.

That rookie from Pitt, whose name is escaping me? They also targeted Eifert's backup a lot last week.
Boyd. I like that guy a lot as a complement to Green. If they blanket green I think Boyd is good enough to go off.

This. Although he did put Jones on Kerley on the outside for at least one snap, while Kerley was giving Carr and Mo trouble.

Thank you! I like Boyd too. He'll be a pretty solid #2 in the league, I think.

I don't think that Mo should shadow Green. One of the reasons the secondary is playing better is because they've got Carr playing the right (where he was always been most comfortable) and Mo playing the left.
