Should the Boys keep 3 or 4 RBs?

I look at the main RBs the Team has available and see two types of RB with two in each group--Murray/Randle and Dunbar/Lawrence. If they decide to keep 4, maybe even 3, I believe one should be somewhat of a bruiser, one that can generate short yardage somewhat on his own. I don't know what's available out there but do not feel they should duplicate there RBs.

Your thoughts.

I believe Dallas should have atleast four onthe roster especially with the uncertainty of Demarco Murray not able to record a full season without missing playing time.

If Dallas drops that fourth RB before the season and we get halfway through the regular season and one of the big 3 gets hurt (Murray, Randle, Dunbar) you put yourself in a situation where you have to go to waivers and pickup a new guy who has not been in our system or knows the playbook

I would have a hard time not going with four, as of today.

Murray hasn't been able to stay healthy. If he went down, you are only left with 2 guys. One of those guys is a rookie who has also been hurt.

Dunbar, Lance 5-8 191, 4.47 forty
Lawrence, Kendial 5-9 196, 4.33 forty
Murray, DeMarco 6-0 215, 4.37 forty
Randle, Joseph 6-0 198, 4.59/4.52 forty
Tanner, Phillip 5-10 217, 4.57 forty

The reports are that Tanner has reshaped his body and looked good in the OTAs/mini-camp.

I wouldn't be surprised to see them keep 4 RBs.

Other teams could have paid more money to sign Kendial Lawrence if they really wanted him. My guess is that he would make it to the practice squad.

The argument that we need four in case of injury is thin. The 4th rb is most likely inactive. So we would be able to call up someone from the PS if needed. I don't see but two guys that other teams would sign at this point

Three RBs and 1 FB. That is all.

My Guess...and only a guess...

Three RBs on regular roster

No FBs as they will fill that with one of the TEs and keep 4 TEs on the roster.

Keep one or two RBs on the practice squad to call up if one of the regular roster RBs get hurt.

I think the only way the team keeps a 4th RB is that he's a special teams demon with Hester-like return abilities.

im on board with this scenario. Best plan so far, i see no point to the FB on this team for a while and really I think Tanner is the RB that steps up and proves he can do the job well.

I think based on the amount of carries the rb gets in this system we could get away with 2 but it will more than likely be 3. Murray , Tanner, Dunbar.

I think part of reason we signed Rosario was so he can play some FB if needed. So with that I would role out with 3 RBs to start the season and no FB. If we keep 4 RBs and 4 TEs then we'll only be able to keep 9 OL or 4 S.

Also...I'd like to have a chance to keep 6 WRs, with Coale and Beasley filling out the 5-6 spots.

I think the only way McSurdy sticks on this roster is if he can also play fullback. I don't think we keep a dedicated fullback.

We could go long at running back and chop McCray if one of the running backs can play special teams. I don't think we will keep 5 running backs on the 53 man roster. Someone will have to go to the practice squad or totally chopped.

I think you will see an emerging trend of using running backs instead or receivers on special teams, which will create more room for a running back on this roster at the expense of one of the receiver spots. That is why I do not think you will see 6 receivers on this roster. Especially not if we keep 4 tight ends.

You really cannot answer this question without examining the rest of the roster. Keeping a 4th RB on the 53 man roster pushes someone off. I think you can safely go with 3 and 1 on the practice squad, however, if 4 guys prove to be too good to be let go, I'd have to know who was going to be pushed off the roster to keep the 4th RB.

I agree that he would have to play special teams very well, but I'm not sure he would have to be a returner. A guy who makes dynamic tackles on special teams is about as valuable as a returner.

Sound logic.

I just don't see McSurdy making the roster over Holloman and Magee...that is who would lose their spot to keep him. I'd be pissed to lose one of those guys for him.

It is pretty easy to see who we'd lose should be keep 4 RBs. Weems, Coale, McCray, or one of Holloman/Magee. I don't keep Lance Dunbar over those guys.
