#4 is probably the big issue in bringing him back. Rogers is most likely a pure 1 tech, Phillips is getting mostly reps outside behind OSA. FOr Rogers to get a spot you have to get rid of either Mazi, which Im guessing Jerry wont like because he invested a high pick in him, or you get rid of Joseph which likely wont happen as that's Zimmers guy.I would absolutely sign Rogers back.
1. We invested a pick in him already
2. We are familiar with him already
3. We need bodies
4. And most importantly— he is an upgrade in the DT rotation at least over Phillips at this point
who?The Dallas Cowboys drafted DT Justin Rogers with one of their two 7th round draft picks in 2024. Justin Rogers looked good at times during training camp and during preseason. Sadly, the Cowboys cut him at the end of preseason while signing old DTs Jordan Phillips and Linval Joseph.
Everyone saw how poor both Jordan Phillips and Linval Joseph performed against the Saints. 2nd year DT Mazi Smith did not fair much better. Clearly, the Cowboys interior D-line is in bad shape and needs better talent.
Justin Rogers was signed by the Cincinnati Bengals and currently is on their practice squad. Should the Dallas Cowboys approach him and be willing to bring him back in case Jordan Phillips or Linval Joseph keep struggling and get cut?
What say you?
Interesting.I reached out overnight to Justin Rogers via his X (previously known as Twitter) account on one of his posts showing one of his Cowboys preseason highlights. Justin still has the Dallas Cowboys listed on his X account profile bio, so clearly he still likes the Cowboys.
Here was my question to him which he responded with 'liking' my comment...
