Video: Should the Dallas Cowboys Bench Rashan Gary?

They were likely going to release him but then came Jerry.
Right!
Trade a 4th or get into a bidding war.
They had talked to agents and had a good idea of what the starting price for DE/edge were going to be and it was overly inflated.
So far Gary hasn't worked out.
Only about 35-40% of free agent signings work out.
Difference is Gary took a pay cut and can be walked away from fairly easily after this season.
It was either drop a 4th on a player who averaged 7 sacks a season or 20+ million average on a guy who had 2 sacks last season. And be stuck with the contract for 3 seasons if it didn't work out.
It was the right decision at the time.
Not so much now considering the guy who had 2 last season already has 3!

If someone is 1st string on a terrible roster. How does bringing someone even lower on the totem pole on the same horrible roster make things better? Make it make sense.

Jerry dumb….from before they traded for him, people talked about Gary….nothing special, GB was wanting to offload him for a reason. He was never a good pass rusher really, and we needed rush more than anything. Hell Clowney wanted to stay, we could have signed him for half as much, not given up a 4th, and probably had better play!. Bengals traded only a 1st for Dexter Lawrence and the Falcons trade like a 5th and a backup corner for Gerv0n Dexter…..and they are both like top 4 DT in the league now on pff while Q is not even top 50. We gave up a first AND a second! Man, Jerry stay making bad decisions. We could have had the Bills rising star DT Walker in the 3rd last year j stead of Revel too. Our D line and rushers is a garbage group this year. We have gotten basically average returns for the Micah trade at this point the way Q and Clark and Lawrence are playing.

Or...and hear me out...Jerry does some homework and realize he was a player on the decline that GB had no issue letting walk and either get him for even less or don't sign him.

Of course...he just extended Bland who everyone on earth could see coming crashing down to earth after his injury, so I guess that's too much to hope for.

Dallas went thrift shopping at edge after balking at Neiman Marcus prices.
And we got a worn down edge with not much current upside.

Gary did take a paycut, but after coming here he had no guarantees or securities. Part of his restructure was a 13.2mil signing bonus and 16mil guaranteed.

Take a 10mil cut and be traded to Dallas or just be cut from the Packers...

Well except Gary just came off a 7 1/2 sack season and 52 pressures!
His market value would have started around 22m and increased once the bidding started!

He and Clark were really good in Green Bay.

Thompson was terrific in Arizona.

Quinnen was great in New York.

They're just not that good here.
Gary was terrible last year, Clark was the same player, Thompson hasn't played, and QW had been excellent but has no help.

Just making things up lol
