Should the NFL stop marijuana testing?

There is so many BS studies around marijuana at this point because it truly is the gateway drug to open many other drugs to become legalized that it's hard to even say if it's performance enhancing or not.

But it is still illegal in some states.

Anyway, I don't know. I used to think that making drug use legal would end all the drug wars and violence. Now I see what is happening in those west coast cities on the news with all the homeless drug addicts. That is no way to live and as a good people we should not allow our fellow human beings to live in such suffering. It is not the "Christian thing" to do. Our society needs to move away from the legalization of drugs. And NFL players should not be promoting drug use!

Just my opinion.
Society needs to also move awake from basing their lives on make believe also

LMAO. someone’s living in the 1980’s still
Not an argument nor did I say anything incorrect - read what I said again: nowhere is being mentioned marijuana causes an individual person to go into harder drugs, it's politically being used as a way of opening the door for other drugs becoming legal.

Also, marijuana has been used for such things as ADHD and the NFL has bans other medications with similar effects. The argument against this is, obviously, marijuana can have more purpose than just that.

There is nothing make believe about morality, altruism, the study of history, and understanding psychology.

What's happening in the west coast cities has nothing to do with weed being legal.

This cannot be definitively said, "doctor".

It hasn’t been extensively studied… but, yeah, it pretty much can be.

1 - Marijuana is statistically less addictive.

2 - Marijuana is nearly impossible to overdose on. But I could get enough alcohol to overdose on right now for $25.

3 - Studies show alcohol has more long term negative health consequences such as liver disease, and damage to the brain.

The fact that we can watch tens of thousands (some sources claim over 100,000 people) die every year due to alcohol, in a perfectly legal manner, but marijuana is not considered to be in the same vein of substance or even less damaging is pretty laughable to me. 3,000,000 people die across the world every year due to harmful use of alcohol.

It IS impossible to overdose on marijuana. Those of you that have never smoke weed really need to stop commenting on something you know NOTHING about.

I do consume cannabis and generally agree with you. A lot of people who are against it seem to have a lack of knowledge regarding the safety of it.

I only said nearly impossible because there has been a recent case of a small child consuming cannabis and dying, however, experts weren’t sure if it was the direct cause of death or not. There have been other cases of children accidentally consuming thousands of milligrams of THC, thinking it’s candy - which definitely temporarily screws them up, but they do not die.

I have had multiple people in my family die from alcohol induced liver disease. I am 100% a marijuana advocate.

And I have no idea why you are bringing up alcohol. You said: "It does not enhance a player’s physical performance in any way." - the claim wasn't that marijuana makes someone's performance worse.

The issues with "studies show" is that marijuana every other week has a study making it out to be a miracle cure for many types of ailments and mental problems. All of which, depending on the organization, would label this as performance enhancing. You cannot on one hand be okay with many medications being banned due to falling under performance enhancing and also support studies showing marijuana gives similar effects to said banned mediation.

True. But I think weed is the first step to the legalization of drug in America. That looks like the road we are traveling along.

The fact is, addicts need to be treated NOT locked away. Unfortunately, the ENTIRE justice system in America is set up to make money, and not rehabilitate. Half the prisons in the U.S. are privately owned, and they have to keep a certain amount of inmates incarcerated. If America was more progressive, these problems could be controlled. As far as legalizing drugs in America, it would cripple the cartels and reduce crime. I'm not advocating that at all, but I could see those being the main justifications if that were to ever happen.

The cartel has been moving away from drug trafficking for a while now since there is better profit in another form of trafficking I can't talk about on here and some of the hardest and most dangerous drugs on the street right now are legal drugs being imported from China.

I could be totally wrong, I just don't think laws should be made to save people from themselves. Heroin and cocaine could have been legal and I still would never have used them. I can't smoke weed for certain reasons. But I think laws against it are ridiculous. It's just to make money. Who the hell cares if someone is smoking weed?

Pretty much.

I like Bourbon. I like Scotch.

But sometimes I have to remind myself that I'm just poisoning myself at an acceptable amount.

The problem is the NFL is a brand that is selling not just sports, but leadership, and role models to young people. What should the role of NFL players be when it comes to drugs?

But the drugs are so powerful that people can't save themselves.

And I think a lot of people are tricked into becoming addicts.
