Should this board have a “Video Zone” forum?

This board already has the "Daily Zone", which is effectively a print-media news forum - which I love by the way. So in the same spirit, would it make sense to also have a separate "Video Zone" forum, specifically for posts where guys like theebs and dcfanatic posts up Cowboys-related videos? That way these video posts would all be held in the same place, which would make them much easier to locate and navigate through.

At least that’s my opinion on the matter. :)

Hey, it’s just a thought! :D

We considered this idea in the past but there were not enough posts to justify yet another Zone forum, so we opted to point people to the Media Zone. That being said, videos are being posted more frequently now so it is something that will be looked into again.

However, I make no promises because the staff may feel that while video posts are more common now, the idea of adding another zone that would have to be read by users every time they visit the site is not something we would take lightly.

Just say no to video zone.
Get rid of media zone and Nfl Zone.
Post all content in the fan zone to be moved if necessary.
the 3 Zones should be
-Daily
-Fan
-Draft

We don't read NFL news here. We read it at NFL. Media is rarely viewed in Media Zone because nobody knows its there b/c we all visit the daily and fan zone and hardly make it to the media zone.

No...it's not.

Agreed. I don't want to see TO threads in the Fan Zone six months from now...it's bad enough they're still here now.

A video zone might actually promote the posting of more videos. I'd be in favor. FWIW...which isn't much. :)

I would think that the 2009 Draft Day Zone could be expendable at this point...maybe merge it with the regular draft zone...maybe a sticky at the top that links to all of the NFL team's picks?

The Draft and Draft Day Zone will get moved at some point. No hurry there.

Don't like Vid zone. It would require a little user-retraining, but if we start moving audio/video threads out the Fan Zone or treating them like Daily Zone items and moving them immediately, then people will know to go to the Media Zone to see the stuff.

It's an idea for the staff to evaluate for sure.

Thanks WG, but I'm a bit confused. You and some other posters keep mentioning the "Media Zone". By that, do you specifically mean the "Daily Zone"? I ask because when I go to "Main Forums" only these five choices appear: Daily Zone; Fan Zone; Draft Zone; 2009 Draft Day Zone; and the NFL Zone. "Media Zone" is not listed in these 5, so am I assuming correctly that by "Media Zone" you really mean the "Daily Zone"?

The Zone has quite a few forums. I think you may have the main forums bookmarked, which might be where your confusions lies.

Media Zone - http://cowboyszone.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=16

You can simply just click www.cowboyszone.com to see all the forums the site has just in case you weren't aware.

Since the idea has been addressed and we will consider it I just wanted to stop and thank you for the idea. We really do appreciate it when the members come to us with their ideas how to make the site better.

Thank you.

the problem with video zoning to me is this and i will chime in my 2 points
First as you all know, i try to get DC or theebs to post the podcasts or videos of dfw sports beat, nfl network, ktbb when they talk about the cowboys. I think in some way it needs its own space, especially with football season almost upon us.
Yet, I myself dont listen to all of the videos myself when i post them, in fact, one video by a player had a word in it that I missed, because i dont listen to the rap stuff, just mainly listen to cowboys news and i watch the player playing. In this case the draft choice player the cowboys picked this year, was rapping, which i guessed i tuned out the rap, but was watching the player playing on the football field.

Second, in this case, I got a violation for such a video that I posted the link too, that day i posted about 14 videos and one of them had a word in it that I got a violation for.

I try to post what I find when i see it, so other fans can see it too, get the news and like DC said one time, sometimes in recaps i might hear something a certain way, but when another person hears it, a totally different view.

So, I do think videos need to be posted, but like someone mentioned we all mainly view the top 2 forums, not the vids forum.

In retrospect I think maybe some kind of sticky or star should be set up for that day, with videos set in it for that day. After that day, the sticky or star is removed, the vids is still there, but the next day another new sticky for vids. At the same time, I think some way to sticky or star heads up on shows coming up, so fans can be aware. Like yesterday I posted about the 2 super bowls of the Cowboys playing in the 90s on nfl network. Another person posted the same thing in another thread post. If you had a sticky or some type of star for that day with alerts for programs coming up with shows featuring the cowboys. Like dfw sports beat, ktbb, nfl network, cowboys blitz, cowboys game day, especially with football season almost upon us.

Just an ideal, maybe some of our gurus came come up with a solution.
