I'm sure this has been covered here.
But I can't remember the last thread that specifically dealt with this question.

Its your response, do as you please.
Dont feel like you have to answer each question, answer those you want to. But I was hoping for more than yes/no answers.
Feel free to factor in the draft.

1 Why or why aren't we the favorite?
2 How good are we? Critique the team.
3 How good is/will Romo be? Critique his game.
4 Where are we strong/weak?
5 Who's the competition? How do we stack up to it or match up with it?

I think this is a great thread idea however I'd rather see you go after these questions one at a time. Each is deserving of its own thread quick frankly. It's a l-o-n-g offseason and we certainly have the time to debate. Plus after a while someone will only answer one or two of your questions and from there on in, all the rest of the questions will be ignored in within the following posts.

i think we will be better as a team then we were last season, but our record might not be as good as 13-3. Ive seen the list of teams we play next season and on the surface it seems easier then last seasons, so 13-3 is not outta question. assuming everyone stays healthy i would predict that everybody has a comparable year to last if not better. less interceptions by romo, more yards by barber, better secondary and defense. i say we win it all in the first of many to come!!!

No, this team hasn't proved it has the mettle to win a playoff game. I frankly hope there's less talk from the team about the Super Bowl and more talk about getting a playoff win to start.

1 Why or why aren't we the favorite?

I think we are A favorite. We went 13-3. 4-2 in the division. We certainly deserve, I think, to be mentioned as one of the elite teams in the NFC. I think the Giants could probably get labeled as a favorite. Even though they didn't have quite as strong of a regular season, they did win when it counted, which is more than you could say for us. A lot will depend upon on their pass rush again. And which Eli Manning comes to play. Green Bay could fall off with Rodgers. Or they could be back in the mix. Can New Orleans fix that defense? A lot of questions needs to be answered with Green Bay, NY, and New Orleans. I think we have fewer questions concerning us, other than winning in the playoffs.

I wouldn't count out Philly either. Not because of the Samuel signing. But they did get hot towards the end of the year. And regardless of what people want to say about McNabb.... he can play at a high enough level for Philly to win in the regular season. Don't know if I'd call them a Super Bowl team....but I think they can contend for the playoffs. And once the playoffs start, anything can happen.

2 How good are we? Critique the team.

After years and years of searching for a pass rush.... I think we have a good pass rush. Yeah, its primarily coming from Ware and Ellis and a little diversity would go a long way. But another year of this system and we could make strides forward. But we need to avoid dumb penalties and mistakes. That hurt us just as much as #3 CB. And while you can't pin the playoff loss on Romo..... he needs to step it up the last part of the season and in the playoffs for us to make a push for the Super Bowl. The offense really sputtered down the stretch.

3 How good is/will Romo be? Critique his game.

Accurate. Play maker. But with his playmaking ability comes mistakes. That's probably going to be part of his game for good. Obviously, I don't think Buffalo will be an every year occurrence. But he is probably going to finish the season around 18 or INTs. The key is, does his playmaking make up for the extra couple of INTs he throws. Last year, for the most part, I'd say it does. So long as that remains true, we have ourselves a borderline elite QB in the NFL.

4 Where are we strong/weak?

We are especially strong at #1 WR, TE, RB with Barber, QB, LT, RG, and I think you can include OLB as well. And CB when Newman and Henry are healthy. Obviously, 3rd CB is a need for improvement. And we've got to get better play from Roy next year. Coverage from ILBs is weak. Thomas should help that. Special teams coverage was pretty bad too.

5 Who's the competition? How do we stack up to it or match up with it?

Talent wise, we can probably stack up with anybody.

Mentally, not so sure. Fix that and we are poised for greatness.

No, we should fly in under the radar at high speed and low altitude, destroying everything in our path with advanced weaponry.

:chainsaw:

j/k

It's a little early to be naming favorites, considering we don't know who our rookies will be or what will happen on some of the remaining contracts and FA.

Carry on...

I don't even want to hear about the Super Bowl until we win a playoff game.

New England will be the favorite again, although they got roughed up in the secondary and their LB's are another year older. Maroney should be healthy . Having a high first round pick helps them also.

I think it would depend on the Draft. Potentially yes, but a lot of things could factor in between now and Camp.

I will say that I expect us to be the soup du jour or tend pick pick of the football magazines when they come out in early June.

Thanks for all the responses. Here's mine.

1 Why or why aren't we the favorite? Absolutely are the favorite.

2 How good are we? Critique the team. We are very very good. 13 plus win good.

3 How good is/will Romo be? Critique his game. Top 5 player for sure. Every time I watch extended highlights or discuss his game at length, the sickening man love grows!

4 Where are we strong/weak? We have no true weakness. We are strong at QB, OL, REC, RB, DL, LB.

5 Who's the competition? How do we stack up to it or match up with it?
NYG, PATS, GB, PHI, COLTS, SD. I say the PATS are the only true competition.

We shouldn't be the favorite for no other reason than we can't seem to win a playoff game.

We can be favorites when we can win when it counts...until then we'll just be another good team.

New York will miss Wilson and hopefully Strahan. I hope Manning's late season play is an aberration.

Green Bay has a young team that just got younger and will miss Favre.

Washington has questions at QB and on defense.

Seattle has problems at RB, lol, and WR specially if Hackett signs elsewhere.

Chicago is hurting on offense.

Tampa has several holes.

Dallas needs some youth and speed on offense, but another year in Wade's system alone should improve the defense. I would think that Dallas is the favorite in the NFC.

We might be the favorite to win the NFC, maybe, but we wont be the favorite to win the Superbowl. That will still be an AFC team.

We've gotta prove we can get out of the 1 and done stuff before people will make us favorites for anything.

At the end of the day... it doesnt really matter.

If the Cowboys dont win in the playoffs then will continue to watch the SB with us fans... ON TV.

Favorites?
Sleepers?
Cinderella team?
Underdog?

After watching the Giants do what they did.... who cares? Just win.

I too would like to see the Cowboys win one freaking playoff game before anyone makes them a favorite to represent the NFC in the SuperBowl.
