Should we be worried about the Falcons looking at Garrett as a possible Head Coach

We all know that our offensive genius will be a Head Coach one day, but should we be worried that he will be a potential candidate for the Falcons??

I saw earlier today on Total Access that Mike Singletary would be among the faves for their position , but our young man could fill the position if the job fits.

Hopefully im barking up a wrong tree here , so maybe someone could fill me in on this unlikely - but possible - scenario.

No.

I say this for two reasons:

1. You should not worry about things that you may not be able to control. Jason Garrett will make his own decision at the end of the day.

2. The Cowboys have lost coordinators before. This team is going to be fine with or without Jason Garrett because we still have Tony Romo and Wade Phillips.

Can't worry about things we can't control. If it happens, the teams moves on as they have in the past. Not having JG as an OC isn't going to destroy the team, they will adapt. :)

I don't think Garrett is a good fit there -- he's a guy that a team with a younger QB is going to look to - I honestly don't think that a job in Atl is so appealing since the team is a mess.

Me, I look for SF to come after him pretty hard if they fire Nolan - which I think they will.

I'd add that no Princeton grad is dumb enough to walk into that Atlanta HC job, now.

My point, exactly. Looking at Atlanta's recent history of coaches, if you were Jason, would you go there? Atlanta's new coach will be more desperate than Jason is - he's where he wants to be and doing what he wants to do and he will be patient where he's at while he learns his craft. Would you choose Atlanta now over Dallas in a year or two?

:laugh1:Come on... ;) The Atlanta job doesn't look so good. It isn't only the HC that left that looks bad from this. There must be some behind the scenes problems as well.

He may leave but it wont be for that job.

Thats a sinking ship that still hasn't all the way sunk.

Who ever is the next coach of that team is just as screwed as Petrino would have been.

If I were the Falcons i'd bring in someone who knows how to rebuild a franchise. Maybe someone like Marty Schottenheimer if hes still interested in coaching.

If you don't have a good rep. as a head coach, the Atlanta job could be the death nail to your NFL coaching career. Now Jason has a good Rep for what he has done so far, but all that can be lost by going to Atlanta.

and tony sporano.

people tend to forget that his offense produced a pretty good year last season despite the brakes put on things by parcells.

Hello? JG went Princeton, an Ivy League scholastic institution of the highest order. He ain't fixin' to get buried down there in that manure in Atlanta cause he's got that real good book learnin'. Smart money says he goes to either NY or SD, but we can all hope he does in fact have an arrangement with JJ which will keep him here.

If you were Jason Garrett - would you take that job? No worries here.

Let me see. I'm OC of the Dallas Cowboys and the offense I'ms directing is best in the NFC & 2nd best in the NFL. I'm developing the hottest QB in the NFL whose go unlimited talent and a great guy who'll will be helping Dallas win SBs for years down the road. And the only thing standing in my way to become Dallas HC is the current occupant whose 61. And I know I'm in line to get his job along with a rather lengthy contract with big money to. Besides I'm also working for an organization which gave me the opportunity to become an OC, gave me a real good salary, & who will do everything to add the players necessary to consistently be a legit SB contender.

And now at Atlanta. A team in major turmoil w/o a decent QB, lockerroom problems, a former high profile QB in jail and probably it will take 5 years to turn the team around. But I'd also got to deal with the owner & GM, both of whom he doesn't know but sure must question their judgment & some vets who've got problems with their own management.

Now what should I do?

Here's my prediction for the future ...

... everytime a coaching position opens up, we'll get another thread about how Jason Garrett will be taken from us.

Only job I would be concerned about would be the Giants job should Coughlin not return.

So you don't think the 49ers gig is attractive?

I think that job has a good chance of being vacant.

Garrett is from the Norv School and Norv did a very good job in SF.

I don't think the front office of the 49ers is as good or committed as it was under Eddie DeBartolo. Denise DeBartolo York and her husband now run the organization.

i think atlanta would want a team builder. jason garrett really hasn't proved any of it and would be a risky choice.

schottenheimer, cowher are much better choices.
