Should we draft a RT?

Move our G we drafted to T where he belongs. Let Looney and the rest battle it out at G.
We need a stud at DT , but picking late in the second you take whoever's there that is a upgrade at any position.
Oh Yeah, find another Callahan because this OL has worsened as his influence dissipates. I like Colombo but he's not the guy.

I say yes. Give him one year as a "swing tackle" since La'el Collins is on the last year of the 2 year, $15M deal he signed last year. He don't seem like the long-term solution. He's killed drives with his false starts or holding too much for my liking.

He's an UFA next year. Time to cut bait with this dude.
I don't agree on that but I do think he needs to be playing guard as it is much more fitting to him

He was wildly inconsistent at LG and he lost his starting position there. I would like to see them try C. Williams at RT and let Collins go. Collins hasn’t really been a good player at either position. Posters here have a short memory if they have forgot about Collins poor level of play at LG.
He did have poor play, but he has also never been consistently playing that position to give him a fair shot. I have a good friend who played offensive line for UVA and he always goes on about how difficult a change in position is as you begin to get a chemistry with the person besides you as you have to help protect their weaknesses and as soon as you get that bam swapped out and have to learn how to better help the new person besides you.

RT isn't a huge problem.

We need a 3rd though.

Need help at S and DT. Big time.

I don't agree he was poor at LG. He just wasn't as a good as Leary. The dude is a mauler and better suited for attacking defenders rather than providing protection in space.

Yes possibly. I think Collins will want Tackle money but he played best as a G IMO. It was a mistake moving him to RT in the first place. He should be the LG and Williams should be the RT

Williams should be a tackle. He is built like a tackle His athleticism should make up for the arms.

They both are built like guards, but Williams is lacking strength and I think he plays a little soft. We wont do it, but I think the best move is to move Collins to G and sign a good Vet RT, like Ja'Wuan James, and see what we can get for Williams or keep him for cheap depth.

We have the money and really need to return this Oline to dominance.

Smith | Collins | Fred | Martin | James --now that's a winning line!

actually, I would say not this year.... I think we should move Williams to RT and maybe Collins to guard. Williams has better feet and fundamentals but not as much power playing inside against DT....Collins is stronger and has good feet ot play inside and get to the second level and he played well there. If we are going to draft an OL, it should be targtted at a potential swing tackle or eventual replacement for Smith....

Collins had enough playing time at the position to get comfortable. IMO, maybe it is time to admit that he is nothing more than a very average olineman at any position instead of the first round talent Dallas thought he was. It was a bad decision to ever let Leary walk. Leary was twice the player that Collins has been.

James has an injury history .

He is a good pass blocker but below average to average run blocker . Played on the 5th year option this past year at 9mil.

Dunno if Miami will let him walk though .Their line is Tunsil, a manatee, waffle house, a dude on coke and James.

He lost his starting job at LG to Leary, who was a very good LG, but Collins was not even close to the player Leary was. Collins was known for making some pancake blocks, but he only made those blocks about one out of twenty plays. Collins was not good at the POA either. Stronger DL dominated him on the pass rush. The coaches did not want Collins at RT, but it was the only option after seeing his play at LG. Maybe Collins is not the talented player that we hoped he would be. I no longer think he was anything more than a very average player at best.

Why not draft a LT if a decent one is available. Tyron gets injured every year and I don't see that changing.

Sounds like he's just a physically talented guy who can't play. Alex Barron part deux?

To this fan, this offensive line roster is set for about two more seasons, if everyone on this year's roster is retained. A very good line and with strong depth. Use draft spots for areas that still need to be developed. Defensive tackles and safety. I'd window shop on tight end and buy a running back. A good year to add a developmental linebacker and cornerback.

Collins had potential to be great. I'm not sure what happened. Would a different coach have made a difference? I don't know. I keep imagining someone's going to pay him and test his will and he ends up being dominant somewhere for someone like NE or one of these new west coast/spread systems.
He had potential to be great at basically any OL position other than the one he's at.

I will never understand the rationale behind keeping him at RT.

Could this boil down to the only part of his game that has a weakness, are responses to the outside on his right body side?

He could be left side and core body strong, (in close).
