Should we go back to a 3-4 defense?

I know I will probably get blasted for this, but what the heck. We are obviously not executing well in a 4-3 base. I would like to see us in a 3-4 with a true NT (i.e. Poe, Ngata). Whichever scheme we chose, we will need to be drafting 3 front-7 guys. I can see Hayden, Crawford, Bass, and a draft pick at DE in a 3-4. We can pick up a true NT like Louis Nix (if we're drafting in the top 20) in the draft. I know Selvie is having his best season as a DE, but could he still resurrect his career at his previous position of OLB? This is where I'm going to lose a lot of you... but maybe we need to draft Ware's replacement early in this year's draft. How much cap room will we save by letting Ware go? Obviously, Carter and Lee start at ILB, Simms played better last year in a 3-4 than this year, and DeVonte Holloman would also play ILB. Carr and Claiborne can play more physical at CB which is what they do best.

Don't the Seahawks run a 4-3? How come their corners play physical but ours can't? Scheme doesn't matter anyway because all jerry will do is trade a 2nd rounder for the best corner since Deion instead of building the trenches. This team ran a 3-4 for how many years and how many quality draft picks did they have to show for it out of that front 7? 3, 4 tops

The switch to the cover who is nonsense.

Carter was an emerging star in the 3-4, and we have made him look AWFUL.

Ware has a history of neck and shoulder injuries, so we put him on the ground and run him into the line 60 times a game.

We have cover corners.

We have no safeties.

What in the hell were they thinking?

They just switched to the 4-3 because the 3-4 supposedly wasn't working. Maybe the problem is more than just scheme? Although the current scheme is pretty bad.

That's what I was yelling when they dumped Ryan. And 80% of this forum tried to tear me to shreds.

But this forum loves to blame coaches and will not be slowed at lynching as many as possible. Jerry just laughs at you pawns. You boys make it so easy for him to sell another storyline and another ticket.

Next year will be so much better with Coach XYZ, don't you know!

Amen.

You switch defensive schemes when you are 1-15 and in transition anyway. Not when you are a cusp playoff team with several key players, including your franchise QB, in the last years of their prime.

In a long litany if whipsaw, reactionary moves this was one of Jerry's worst. Just stupid.

I don't think Carter has played bad this year, but he did look like more of a playmaker in the 3-4

He got destroyed against San Diego and was terribad tonight.

I have drank away my memories of most of the previous clownshoes efforts from Kiffens gimps.
