Should we have gone for DeCastro too?

When you consider how LATE in the 1st round DeCastro went. When you consider that many believe he is a day 1 starter for the next 10 years. Should we have given up next years #1 to get DeCastro? I mean think about it, we hope to be picking LAST next year. If not last....at least in the late 20s. Is DeCastro not worth a pick in the late 20s next year? What do you think?

I would have been fine with this. Decastro was a sure thing and for many years to come.

Steelers have have gotten a steal with DeCastro at 24!?!?!?!? Good for them.

There was no way to get back into the 1st round to draft him. I would have loved to have him.

Next years first would not have been good enough?

No, we don't need to be giving away too many picks to move up. You do need later picks for depth and to balance out your salary cap, if nothing else.

But if we're talking about players, I'm more jealous of the Pats getting Hightower at 25. I have a feeling he's going to be very good.

Well, next year's 1st rounder does not come close to getting us the 24th pick in this year's draft. You wouldstill be one full round off in value.

I would have given up 81, 113, 152, 186, and 222 to get back in and take him. That would leave us only 135 the Comp pick, but IMO we'd have had 2 of the top 5 picks in this draft.

I believe JG and Callahan think they can find guards and centers in later rounds and undrafted FA's and make the offense work with them. We had 3 OL with rookie or 1 year experience last year and we made our offense work. If the Defense held a lead in any one game we blew the lead, we would have won the division. But I don't think JG will spend high draft picks on guards or centers

But that would not be nearly enough to get the 24th pick, Hos. Maybe it would get us half way there.

Throw in Jenkins and our 2013 2nd round pick and that should be enough, and I would have done it.

I thought about that as well as he was my "pet cat" in this draft but it would have taken a lot to get back into the 1st round. Still, I would have gone for it to get him, I believe he will be THAT good!

Our 1st in 2013 plus our 3rd & maybe 5th or 6th this year to move into the low 20s. That's probably what it would have taken to get him.

Wow, if you'd got your wish we could put a wedding dress on you like Iron Mike Ditka put on when he traded the saints ENTIRE draft for Ricky Williams.

;)

That would have gotten us much closer for sure.

as teams kept passing on him, i was thinking, "it would be so awesome if they could pull off a trade to grab him now!"

just then, the steelers picked him.

:steelers:

Okay, but it couldn't be white. Unlike Ricky, I'm not a virgin.

yeah and romo almost ended up in the morgue and we managed a grand total of 5 rush tds which right at the bottom of the NFL. Yeah things worked so well

Think about this one for a few seconds.
Of course it would have taken more than next years first....but I don't think that much more. I mean he went 25th. Didn't the Commanders do this to get Jason Campbell a few years ago...I don't remember EVERYTHING off the top of my head....but didn't they only have to give up their 1st the following year and their 3rd?
