Should we have made that trade with Jacksonville?

do you think we could have still gotten tyron smith at #16?

here are the teams who picked 10-15 in the 1st round....

Jacksonville
Houston
Minnesota
Detroit
St. Louis
Miami

i'm not sure if these teams were in need of an OT...

IF we did make the trade, we would have at least gotten what the Commanders got from the jaguars...#16 and #49 pick. that would have been 3 of the first 49 picks.

if you can guarantee we still get Smith at 16, then yes....if not, then no. I am not a huge fan of Smith, but he does have the highest cieling of all the OL in this draft.

No, the Lions would have taken Tyron. So it would be either Tyron at 9 or Castonzo/Mike Leshoure

It was the right call. Weve had RB's, time to get great linemen

I doubt it. I think New England would've moved up and got him if we traded down to #16.

Well we would've likely ended up with

1- Anthony Castonzo
2- Bruce Carter
2- DeMarco Murry (imo, they would've still taken him)
3- Will Rackley or John Moffitt

So would I'd rather have Tyron Smith or Castonzo/Will Rackley? I think I'd rather have Castonzo and Rackley, but hindsight is 20/20. With the risk of getting neither, I'd stick with the decision to take Tyron Smith

a player like Castonzo is not that much different than Smith imo. both are big, athletic, and play with a mean streak.

if we made the trade, we get Castonzo who is very capable of starting this year, and then have another pick for a brusing back like leshoure or daniel thomas. there were a lot of good DL, OL, and RBs available at #49.

When people talk about Tyron's upside, its not because he is a project, he has already played good football for 2 years. They say it because he can be much better than Castanzo, he has physical gifts Castanzo never will.

Castanzo is good, Tyron is good and can be great.

The tackle the Pats ended up drafting was their #1 rated tackle, so this wasn't going to happen.

No, Tyron might be out RT/LT for the next 12-15 years. The more I think about it, the more I love the pick.

another option would have been get Castanzo or Tyron Smith at #16...then trade the two 2nd round picks for a 1st rounder....get Mike Pouncey.

we would have 3/5th of our oline set in stone for the next 6-7 years.

i'm surprised this option isn't more attractive to some of yall...

It would've been a good trade but we got the blue chip athlete so I can't complain.

I personally would've done what we did and select Tyron Smith but I don't think there was a wrong answer on what to do after how I saw the draft unfold.

No, reports said that Lions would have taken T Smith.

We needed an OT badly. You dont pass up blue chip players like a tyron smith.

Pouncey went 15th, ahead of where we would've picked Castonzo, so that couldn't of happened.

What could've happened is we could've gotten Castonzo then traded a 2nd and a 3rd to move up for Cameron Jordan. Then with the 2nd from Jacksonville, likely could've still gotten Carter.

We would've missed out on Murry, but I could definately live with that.

And Julius Jones was just as good as Steve Jackson. Been there done that don't want anymore. Trust your board make the pick and don't look back.

I like the way our draft went just fine. I'm not upset about not taking the Jacksonville deal.

on the flip side in 07' when we traded back into the first for Spencer, we probably would've settled for Lamarr Woodley if we didn't. It can go either way.
