Should we make changes on the OL?

After watching the game and calming down a little. I think that the gameplan was not necessarily the problem. I think the idea was to take shots downfield but Drew had no time to even find a receiver half the time because of the OL. The OL absolutely cannot run block worth anything. JJ and MBIII couldn't even get back to the LOS half the time. I think a shakeup on the OL may be in order. I don't see why Gurode can't replace Johnson and Ethan Brooks maybe replace Pettiti or Tucker. I just think something needs to be done with 10 days to get ready for the Giants.

Yeah, it stinks to lose, but if we had to lose in this 3 game stretch, this was the game to lose and it doesn't affect us in the NFC. Well, go Seahawks on Sunday over the Giants.

Unfortunately I don't think the answers are currently here on the roster. I hope we address it with the same type of fervor that we did our front 7 on D this offseason.

Ultimately, I really believe the key will be to bring in a top-notch OL coach - it will make a world of difference. There is enough talent on the OL (at least at the start of the year) to have an above average OL but we have been pretty bad. I don't think Sprano is getting the job done and he should find himself another job at the end of the year.

Whoever is in charge of scouting OL for the past 5 years should be dismissed too if that already hasn't been done.

I agree, I think Sparano needs to stop teaching zone blocking like another poster had said on another thread and just tell the OL to just start mauling the guy in front of them.

OL is always one of my biggest concerns. It's been that way all year with this team. I never really know which group will show up.

Obviously, starting two very young players as your bookend tackles isn't the recipe for success. Having a RG who had a back injury that has kept him from even lifting weights like he wants doesn't help either. Center Quarterback fumbles on the exchange also slow things down. And Larry Allen has stuggled against quicker players for several years now.

In short, sometimes the line is fine. Other times, they really struggle. Lately, it feels like they've struggled a little more...

Cowboy4322 this should tell you how I feel about our OL.

If we use every draft pick in the 2006 draft on OL I will be very happy. If all we do in FA is sign Terell Owens and use the rest on OL I will be very happy.

Our OL cost us the game tonite and there is no question about it. If you cant run the ball you will not win games.

The only reason we are play off contenders instead of Super Bowl contenders is cuz of our crappy OL.

And yeah we are Play off contenders IN SPITE of our OL not because of them.

I've watched the game twice...and went back to the first quarter to start watching in detail...

On one play LA got beat...the run got stuffed.

On another Petitti didn't get to the LB quick enough...run stuffed.

On another Tucker didn't seal the back side...run stuffed.

On another the line got great push and a nice seal on the right side but for some reason, Julius took the ball into the traffic on the left side...run stuffed.

That all occurred in the first quarter.

I agree! You give us the Hawks OL and we win the NFC hands down. No wonder Alexander has 12,000 yds rushing already.

If we had the Seahawks OL BP would be getting carried out on the shoulders of the players holding up #6 this year. Julius Jones would have close to 2000 yards rushing and 20 TD runs and Drew Bledsoe would have at least 25 TD passes.

When I watch a Cowboy game sometimes I ask if those guys on the OL have ever even played football before. That is how bad they are.

I agree, we are going to need to draft some OL. Our run blocking is horrible.

I will ask this. If we had a good OL do we beat Denver today instead of lose. I say YES. Reason is cuz if we had a good OL our running game would be working.

I believe in zone blocking very, very much. But not with these guys - you have to be quick, and that is a feature they lack (see all our screen attempts)

We have a problem blocking quick guys who slant...LA seems to get beat by that kinda technique...Adams used to...same with Tucker...

3, 7 and 9 techs will have lots of success against our guys - unfortunately, that is 3 of the 4 linemen in a 4-3 scheme. The only way I see that we can counter that is to call plays that aren't slow moving (such as the draws that we seem to be fond of).

But I have just never been a fan of the big mauler lineman...just a personal thing.
