While free agency officially begins in March, roster turnover isn’t too far away. The Cowboys will indeed add and presumably release players, along with letting some go without a new contract.

However, the majority of the 2018 roster is already in place. In the coming weeks, the staff of DallasCowboys.com will preview those players, analyzing where they’ve been and where they’re going.

Today, we continue the series with quarterback Cooper Rush.Read

If it would be anybody i would rather the cowboys have hired tony romo as QB coach that would have been my decision ! make Tony an offer he couldn't refuse

Dak and Rush work for me

IDK .....can't hurt to have a guy like Sanchez presence

Kellen will provide as much intel as a lot of those will. Not that I believe it, but likely that’s what Jerry and Stephen believe

I would like to know the last time we signed a quality FA WR. We seriously need one.

Laurent Robinson.

Even that was a bottom of the barrel signing that turned into gold.

But quality before he got here? Owens likely

Wasn't that TO and before that Roy Williams , Joey Galloway , Terry Glenn are the ones that jump to mind for me ! not sure of the order though i think i have it right LOL

I should say big names actually most of those were trades i think

Roy williams and galloway were trades i think not sure about TO and Glenn

Glenn was traded from Green Bay. Owens was a free agent

Id sign a vet for insurance...not sure Im ready to hand a season to Coop if something happened to Dak...plus I think it would help Dak to have a vet around....and,honestly...to push him too.
Blaine Gabbert.

I would bring back Sanchez in a heartbeat. Not to play, but give him a 2-3 year contract to be Dak's mentor. Their is no one in that QB room with more experiance playing than 2 year starter Dak. Including the QB coach !
He said Sanchez was the most helpful voice in his ear, so let him wind down his career here. And maybe he gets to prep. For an eventual QB coaches job himself - 2 way street ...

I'm not against it but to me its a waste of resources.

You have a head coach who's a ex-quarterback, you have a QB coach.....if you don't feel comfortable enough with those guys to mentor Dak than you probably need to replace those guys.

I honestly think Sanchez had a lot to do with Dak’s first season success. I’m not sure I’d actually want him to play in the event of an injury so there is the gamble.

Why Mark Sanchez should return to the Bears in 2018
Bringing back Mark Sanchez makes a lot of sense for the Chicago Bears.

https://247sports.com/nfl/chicago-b...-should-return-to-the-Bears-in-2018-113926096

he most famous moment of Mark Sanchez's 2017 season with the Chicago Bears came on Christmas Eve while rookie Mitch Trubisky was mic'd up for the game. Sanchez was shown by Trubisky's side throughout the game on the sidelines and was always there with an encouraging word or with something funny to say.

While a few short moments on the sideline shouldn't be enough to make Bears fans clamor to have Sanchez back in 2018, but there is no doubt he was a critical part of Trubisky's progress in his rookie season.

Taken with the fifth overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft out of USC by the New York Jets, expectations weighed heavily on Sanchez. He was a part of two teams that went to the AFC Championship game to start his career but played a small role in his team's success. In his rookie season he threw for 2,444 yards with 12 touchdowns and 20 interceptions before throwing for 3,291 yards with 17 touchdowns and 13 interceptions in 2010.

His most productive season came in 2011 when he threw for 3,474 yards with 26 touchdowns and 16 interceptions, but he regressed in 2012 before an injury kept him out all of the 2013 season. He joined the Philadelphia Eagles in 2014 and made eight starts, throwing for 2,418 yards with 14 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

He returned to Philly in 2015 before he was traded to the Denver Broncos in 2016. He was later released by the Broncos and spent all of the 2016 season as the backup to Dak Prescott in Dallas.

Chicago signed him to a modest one-year deal worth $2 million last offseason, much to the chagrin of Bears fans. Even though he was never active for a game in 2017, he relished the opportunity to still be in the NFL working as a mentor to Trubisky.

“This is still the best job in the world,” Sanchez said back in November, via Chris Emma of CBS Chicago. “I love playing ball, and I love being around other players, studying and staying after it mentally. You see how the league evolves each year, you see a bunch of different coordinators, a bunch of different defenses. A lot of things overlap, a lot of things carry over, and then a lot of new wrinkles and things kind of get phased in and out as the league continues to evolve. So that’s been fun for me to see.”

Wasted roster spot. Every addition creates a subtraction
