A lot has been made about Witten's decline this season and I think there is some truth to it. However, I think it's also reasonable to suspect that his production has been more about the focus on the running game then his decline in skills. I think he proved that he can still get it done in the passing game. The problem is that he's probably our best run and pass blocking TE as well. Yet you don't hear him complaining about his targeets or catches.

Shout out to Witten for doing what it takes to win! He's a great Cowboy in my book.

I like it when they use him to attack the middle of the field. I'm glad the little 2 yard out routes are being eliminated.

Witten is like 40 and can still get open.

Numbers are down because of Dez, Beasely starting to get more involved but most importantly the running game being so great. Of course his numbers were going to go down but he's still just as important, and reliable, as he's been for his entire career.

He looks like the same guy to me. Maybe his blocking has improved. The primary difference is just that the balls are going to Demarco instead of into the passing game. And, yes, he's a beast. I loved the PHI fans in the chat room just begging for him to call it a career already after he was burning them over and over on the first down conversions.

I don't see a decline in his play I see less opportunities because we have an excellent running game and a top WR in Dez. He still avgs 10 yards or better per catch only difference is fewer chances.

I want Witt to hoist a Lombardi as I do Tony.

They can laugh about all the years of the snide BFF cracks

he's lost a step for sure, but speed never was his game. He's a great, great route runner.

a top 10 Cowboy in my book. would love to see him and #9 have some January success.

Yeap I still love Witten. When both Witten and Romo hang it up the Romo to Witten connection on 3rd downs and clutch plays will be surely missed. Witten isn't about TDs or padding his stats. He wants to be in the game because he wants to help the team win.

I think the decline in his stats is not because he's getting old and has lost a step or two. He's decline in stats is because he has become such a great blocker that they are using him more and more on plays that requires him to block. He hasn't lost of step. He's adding more value to the team as the years go by. Thats why the Cowboys have a hard time taking him out of the line up.
