Newman is a great player, but in football, unless it's your quarterback that goes down, losing one player is never the difference. Guys get hurt. Every team has injuries (and if they don't yet - they will). It's about overcoming adversity and making do. This team will make do without Newman, if need be.
Last year, it was Greg Ellis. The year before, Flo. The year before that, Terry Glenn. Did they have a negative effect on our team? Yes. However-did their losses cost us our seasons? NO. If anything, our sorry kicking game costed us the NFCE Title in '05, and we had the NFCE in *the bag* last year, until Parcells decided to lay down like a dog the remaining month.
And yeah-if there's anything good coming out of this, TNew WON'T be returning punts this year, whether he's on the field or not-remember last year how we were holding our breaths every time he was back there? And two, better he have this injury now, than later in the year when we're driving for the playoffs.
So yeah-just get over it everyone. There's nothing we can do about it.
