Walterfootball gave us a B+ which was the highest of all the NFC east team.

After Gurley was gone, the next 2 players I wanted were Dupree and then Jones.

I would have been in favor of a trade up for Dupree for the right price. I knew he wouldn't get past Pitt. He has arguably the quickest 1st step in the draft. It's between him and Ray imo. I'm happy with Jones though.

It was a solid pick given our options, no trade up and the kid has size, ability and flex.

Folks were saying the Cowboys did not like Dupree.

Couple of thoughts.

  1. You want very athletic players, but most super athletic freaks don't end up working out as those athletic freaks just aren't football players. (AOA, etc) When they do though... (D-Ware)
  2. Jones seems very humble. The only top notch CB I remember that came off extremely humble was Nnamdi Asomugha. Most of the time, a CB needs that brash confidence. It seems to help them excel.
I pretty much didn't pay any attention to college football or anything draft related this year. (it's ungodly busy at work and I've been working 55-65 hours per week) That said, with just the little I have read and seen. I don't feel to bad about this pick. I certainly wished the Eagles sold everything for that QB though. I think I'm more concerned with the running game this year than I am with this pick.

I wanted to Shane Ray, but adding Jones gives us flexibility with Carr and or the ability to bench Claiborne.

He'll look like a great pick if Dallas can grab a few D-lineman today and tomorrow that can get to the QB. Throw in a hopeful twelve games from Sean Lee and a hopeful ten from Greg Hardy and this defense would look much better than last year.

It says that the NFL comparison is Justin King......how do you draft the pick an A and that is his NFL comparison?

Do you believe the rumors that Cowboys didn't like Dupree and if so wonder why?

I didn't hear that rumor. I would be surprised if they really didn't like him.

They have shown the past couple of years to really like players that have shown good technique in college over just raw athletes. Lawrence was more developed in terms of playing with leverage, hand usage and several of those details, but I thought Dupree flashed the ability to do those things but didn't do them consistently. He does have limited arm length.

If it is true, it could be a mental makeup issue that we don't know about.
