"Jones is wonderfully adept at making it seem like he has a plan and, certainly, we will start to see its machinations now that the wheels are coming off the current iteration."

A huge part of this is the cultlike following Jones has amassed over the years. Too many Cowboys fans have devoted themselves to Jones and refuse to see that the person who openly tells you is responsible for everything is responsible for what this team has become.

"He cannot and will not fire himself. Instead, he must find the kind of people who can remain one step ahead of his worst impulses. The kind that have rendered the Cowboys rudderless and meaningless at the tail end of the 2024 season."

Imagine having to deal with the many complexities of being a head coach at the highest level and also have to be handicapped with an egomaniacal football moron who insists on assigning you assistants, dictate game planning, player usage (“touches”) and strategy, strip of you of any real authority over the players, have the ultimate say on draft picks, and limit your ability every year to add talent (no free agency).

This is how Dallas has gone three decades without competing for championships.
Imagine still taking the job as a Dallas Cowboys head coach while knowing full well all that is involved with working for Jerry.

Yeah, I guess the worldwide attention is still the only appeal imo.
Because the number one priority in your job description is to win "in spite" of your owner.

Not the best of working environments to choose from.
And here we are.
AGAIN.

Where you heard that????
Meanwhile, the Cowboys are one of the richest sports franchises in the world...........You do know the Cowboys have millions and millions of fans worldwide. In fact, I would most of those fans love the Cowboys in general. They don't care how much money players are making or analyzing everything Jerry says or do. I tell people all the time posters on this board are what I call professional football fans or forensics as my neighbor like to tease me. Very few fans spend as much time breaking down the team, players, coaches and Jerry the way it is done here at CZ.
I have several family members and friends who are Cowboys fans but they could care less about Dak's contract or Parsons's podcast coz football. Football to them is a few hours of fun, entertainment and just having a good time and no one cares about all that other stuff.
Cowboyszone. . . here . . . hence "Around here"

As far as your claim, that the Cowboys having millions of Fans, it is irrelevant to my argument. You are citing the here and now I am arguing for a possible future

Of course there are casual fans all teams have them nut they are not the backbone of any fan base

Totally agree.
And it's gotta effect sales at some point.
I think.
Or at least I hope cuz that's the only thing that would cause real change.
Change is not a possibility for the next 3 years plus. It is only gonna get worse. As a fan all we can do is watch the demise of Jerry as the bonfire burns.

He made his bed now he can lay in it and he will get no sympathy from me

Short of Jones selling the team (will never happen), there is no hope of ever mkg a deep playoff run. To Jerry, the quality of play on the field doesn’t matter so he’ll keep things business as usual. And the next generations of Jones’ will keep their cash cow.

Now maybe the NFL will pass a nepotism rule but that is far fetched.

CowboysZone ULTIMATE Fan
I just hope the 2025 offseason is not a carbon copy of the horrendous 2024 offseason. Epically horrible work by Jerry and Stephen Jones.

Jerry is the worst GM in sports, he will never ace anything, he needs to be kicked out of the HOF

The Cowboys have to build a running offensive football team and ask less of Dak.

I know Jerry won’t like it but we need to be a run first team with Prescott as our QB.

It’s time to change our ways.
