SI mock

This is an awful draft, but exactly what I am expecting. Terrell is a good player but trade down to get him and get an extra pick.
No, no, and hell no to Davidson in the 2nd round.
Likewise for Asiasi in the 3rd.
I am okay with the next 3 picks but what is the fascination with James Morgan? I get wanting a developmental QB, but why him?

What are the Cowboys going to do if they don't get any decent defensive backs in this draft? We better have a good pass rush.

This is exactly what i'm trying to set my expectations at, because honestly this may be spot on. I'm just not sure if thats a good thing.

They don't need one.

Chido - Brown - Lewis - Canady is, at worst, league average.

Welp we know they zoomed with the first three.

It starts off poorly with Terrell at 17. Davidson is OK and the kid from UCLA has some upside but that draft is just blah.

And if they want to go DB at 17, I'd rather McKinney than Terrell for sure. McKinney could start at SS, Dix play FS, Woods can be a swing S and slot CB.

CB - Awuzie
CB - Brown
Slot - Lewis/Woods
SS - McKinney/Woods
FS - Dix/Woods

That's not a bad secondary.

I’m pretty much guaranteeing Asiasi is the pick in the third

FIRST ROUND: CB A.J. Terrell, Clemson
SECOND ROUND: DL Marlon Davidson, Auburn
THIRD ROUND: TE Devin Asiasi, UCLA
FOURTH ROUND: WR Devin Duvernay, Texas
ROUND 5: S Brandon Jones, Texas
ROUND 5 (COMPENSATORY): LB David Woodward, Utah State
ROUND 7: QB James Morgan, Florida International

Grosssss. This is about the least amount of upside you can draft.

Those top 4 players have a high probability (as a group relative to most many past groups of picks 1 thru 4 by the Cowboys or other teams) to be active and play all games the next 4 years.
- Terrell can be a rookie starter. Davidson can be a rookie rotational DL. The other 2 can be contributors as rookies.

A.J.Terrell: Terrific college player. Turns his head to see the ball. Good balls skills and anticipation. Alpha personality and reportedly loved by the coaches. Not overwhelming measurable(s) but solid at 6-1, 195, 4.42 forty.

Marlon Davidson: Very unique player. There a good chance he could have been a 1st round pick if he played 3tech DT instead of DE in college. Rare ability for bend the corner for a player his size. At 6-3, 303 played as a 3-4 type OLB, as a 4-3 and 3-4 type DE.

Devin Asiasi: Shows better athleticism and fluidity than guys with better measurable(s) like Okwuegbaunam. Good blocker. Good hands. Needs work on route running, etc..

Devin Duvernay: Fast with a solid RB-ish build. Good hands. Excellent yards after the catch type player. Had excellent production in college. Ran simple routes in college and has limited size (5'11-1/2", 200 with short-ish arms.

Chido is the key with our current CBs.

Can the new coaches get Awuzie playing with confidence again?

The talent is there.

I'm confident that he will be much better than last season. They put him in a no win situation from a scheme perspective in 2019. Kris Richard moved all the help defenders in coverage up and over in an attempt to stop the bleeding on run defense. Awuzie often had no help in coverage and no help vs outside runs. He still played the run well, but it was too much to expect from an CB. Deion could be used that way in coverage but he was not worried about the run.

Heard him compared to Alge Crumpler eariler today.

I don't care how many games they play, they're all jags.

Terrell is a solid CB. Solid CBs can be found anywhere.
Davidson is a DT who isn't going to be a big pass rusher. His ceing is basically Maliek Collins.
Asiasi is slow as balls, and doesn't have the explosiveness to be a vertical threat.
Duvernay is a gimmicky WR.

4 guys who can all play day 1 and 4 guys who don't improve this team a lick from last year.

He was good last year. There's not much room for improvement in his game outside of getting his head around better.

Tackling was a big issue for him, which was surprising because he was a good tackler at CU and his rookie season, not sure what happened.
