It really won't mean much unless the Browns start to go for it on 4th down the majority of the time. That's a key component of advanced analytics for football. And it's something that Chip Kelly missed out on and it hurt his chances to be successful with the Eagles. And when I talk about going for it on 4th down the majority of the time....I really mean the *majority* of the time. That means far less punting and field goal kicking.

There are already teams that use analytics for other strategy and player acquisition. But they are all missing the giant piece of the puzzle by using standard 3-down strategy.

So, I will believe it when I see it.

I've seen the Steelers go for 2 alot this year. ...do they use some form of this analytics?

Analytics will not be as effective in a sport with a salary cap.

The numbers are very telling about punts being as bad as turnovers in most cases.

Net punts + net turnovers is one of the most predictive metrics out there.

I scream when I see a team punt inside the other teams 40.
