I read on another Cowboys forum i visit that this guy got wave of certain rumors. And these rumors didnt have the might words Cowboys might they had a definite tone to them.

1. Dallas will be releasing Terence Newman
2. Dallas will be releasing Colombo and Davis but try and sign Davis to a cheaper number. Dont know how that would work out.

I'd like the Davis part dont know how i feel about Newman being cut. This was also part of the Pauline rumors of Dallas trading back for a RT(Carimi)

Hmm, sounds vaguely familiar.

Werent you saying be prepared for the same O-line?

Id rather have Newman come back on a cheaper number. If we let him go hed be somewhat sought after.

Davis wouldnt have many suitors, that tells you just how shot he was.

If we do have the same OL, be prepared for another crap sundae of a season.

Better find a vet who can start at CB.

Oh I still believe we need to be prepared because football teams do not see things the same emotional way fans do.

But in my latest mocks I have been mentioning every single one of these possibilities. Not without reason.

I think all speculation can change in a moment. If they set the cap at $140 million to get a deal all this changes. If they play another uncapped year, all of this changes. These are still "ifs."

Youre been scaring me with this same 5 linemen stuff

At least Leonard Davis could be replaced by Holland, Kosier, or mid-round rookie X at a fraction of the cost and equal or greater play. Thats not emotional, Davis has performance, contract, and age against him. Any other option would be an improvement in at least one of salary, age, or play.

Colombo is probably an emotional one. Ive been brutal with him. Far too often I see Romo go down in a heap and Colombo is the first at the scene of the crime. Not even pure sack numbers, just the overall hits Romo takes after he releases the ball. Thanks mostly to Colombo. But as worn down as he is they could probably keep him as a backup(and 3rd tackle in case an injury to one of the other linemen causes some overall shuffling).

If I had to have one of Ball or Colombo starting again next year I would rather have Ball.

Assuming we get a RT in the draft or FA, Colombo obviously needs to go. Davis wasn't much better. I actually don't see what he does better than Holland except whiff on blocks - he's good at that. Is it just me or does our offense seem to do pretty well when Holland is in there? The Newman thing scares me. CB is NOT a position where we can afford to thin ourselves (same thing I said about Flo last year when there was actually no cap). I know he has a big cap# but I hope we find a way to keep him unless we draft a definite starter and pick up a serviceable vet for depth.

If Newman were let go, I'd sure hope we bring in a veteran to replace him. That's obviously a critical position.

I still dont believe they'd release Newman, and even if they do, they'd probably turn around and resign him to a more cap friendly deal immediately. He isnt subject to waivers, so we could resign him the next day.

He's still a quality player.

If he's let go, its for cap purposes only and if so, they'd probably turn right around and re-sign him.

Or they might just restructure his contract.

any idea about some of our OL reserves and practice squad players?.maybe we will get lucky and one of them can become a starter.

Yes, I would think we would try to re-structure his contract.

As Campo said about a month ago, the team needs to add quality CBs this off-season as we only had 3 last season.

Most players in his situation are too proud to stay home and take the paycut.

O what will we do without our "shutdown corner"?

Get toasted more often, then ***** more. Then blame Jerry, our 'wonderful GM' for blowing another personnel decision we all saw coming a mile away.
