I am watching the replay of the Pokes/G-Men and I have a few observations:

Greg Ellis is terrible in space - he is a DE not an OLB. He is a serious liability in space. I hope Spencer takes over for him in the starting line-up. Greg should be used on passing downs only, where he can rush.

As it was all season, our special teams coverage units were terrible with the exception of the one downed punt inside the 2 by Carp. With our depth, I would expect our ST covergae to be excellent.

I haven't heard anything about getting a new ST coach this offseason. Did I miss that? We need to do something.

Very poor tackling - especially in the secondary.

Poor penalties - especially the personal foul on Bigg - Strahan was getting back up to go after Romo - what is the guy supposed to do? Last time I checked this was football.....a contact sport.

Gurode needs to work on his snaps extensively this off season.

Columbo and Adams did an excellent job for the most part in this game - a couple of the sacks the Giants had should have been thrown aways by Tony.

We need a fullback that can do something other than block - it would add another dimension to the offense. Hoyte is a good blocker though - not much else.

I didn't see it the first time but Crayton hesitating on the go route on 3rd down was HUGE! He put an excellent move on the defender, and then after beating him, he stutter stepped which allowed the DB to close. Unreal.

I know some of this is a repeat but I just watched the game and need to vent. This is a bad time of the year....

I guess you witnessed what I have known for some time..and in spite of Ellis numbers...he has no business playing in space..which is why a passing team like Green Bay or New England would have crushed us. There were many who thought we would beat New York and have a showdown with Green Bay. Many NFL experts had already predicted that we would be beaten by Green Bay in Dallas. For the very reason that they would spread us out and kill us. I know we beat them the first time...but I had the same fear had we played them again. I cannot say I am totally against the 3-4. But if you are going to be a 3-4 team....you have to be able to blitz from the inside much better than we do...and you MUST be able to cover better. We need more speed in the secondary and more speed at ILB

Yep. I noticed most all of that when the game was on live. You're a much more crazy person than I am...sitting through that game again. Yuck.

I'm hoping Spencer takes the starting job next year, even if Ellis still has it in name.

I like Greg going forward, but I feel like most of my bad memories about this team involve Greg Ellis in space, trying to cover, or whiffing on tackles.

Spencer, on the other hand, showed surprising athleticism. I think your base defense would be better if he was the LB opposite Ware.

And while we're talking about LBs, I really do want a little more playmaking ability from my ILBs. I thought Bradie did a pretty good job, but the other position was invisble. Even Burnett didn't do a ton to distinguish himself in that regard, but at least he showed plenty of flashes that he might be able to do more with more snaps.

How about the refs spotting the G-men the first 7 points in the game - by helping them get first downs in that drive when Dallas stopped them twice on third down -first when the refs called a BS offsides on Ware on one, and second when they made a poor spot of the ball on another giving them a 1st down when they were short?

Also, watching Fassano drop the T.D. brought back bad memories of Jackie Smith. That, and it made me want to kill Parcells for ever drafting this 2-bit TE.
