We posted a new first round mock draft yesterday.

http://www.sidelinescouting.net/mock/

At #27, we have the Cowboys taking Terrence Cody, which may be an unpopular pick because of the needs on the offensive line, but let me explain.

Ratliff has been exceptional at NT, but is probably better suited at 3-4 DE to take advantage of his quickness and pass rush abilities. By taking Cody, you can have Cody play NT and move Ratliff to end for first and second down. then on passing downs insert Ratliff at NT to rush the passer.

We considered Jared Veldheer there, but ultimately felt it was too high for him.

Next monday we will be posting a 7-round mock and OL will be addressed in round 2-3 I'm sure. I'll make sure to post that when it comes out. Bradford probably won't go #1 now with the impending McNabb trade, but we will adjust that accordingly next week.

Any feedback you guys have on the other picks would be great as well.

.

Stopped reading right there. We have an all-pro NT and you want to move him for a out of shape NT with no pass-rushing ability? No thank you.

I really don't see the Cowboys moving their Pro Bowl NT for Cody.

IMO, the Cowboys would probably like to take Iupati (if available). Other guys the Cowboys would look at include Wilson at CB, D McCourtney, Odrick at DE, maybe Weatherspoon at ILB. They have shown some interest in Tate, Dez Bryant (if he slips).

Correction, Cody would be the worst case scenario. Odrick second worst.

No disrespect but thats just not happening. Ratliff has found a home and hes not moving. Maybe a moose like Linval Joeseph later on

Yeah, it wasn't the ideal pick by any means. But when we got to Dallas, it was one of those things where all the guys we wanted to give to them were gone. So, we looked at value, and after losing 20 pounds between the Senior Bowl and combine, Cody's shown he can keep his weight under control when he wants to. Getting Cody at 27 is a decent value pick and there are ways to mix him into your defensive line rotation that would help the team.

Like I said, the need here is offensive line and its too early for Veldheer. Looking back, we should have given them Maurkice Pouncey, and that'll all be fixed in the next mock when we overhaul it for the 7-rounder.

We dont always know what Jerry is doing, but Cody just cant be our 1st round pick. Jerry is proud he stole Ratliff in the 7th, he wouldnt move him

- Just give us Iupati, problem solved ;)

Any thoughts on the rest of the picks?

Dexter McCluster in the 2nd would make sense.

Team is looking to improve STs, esp kick-off returns. Plus, they want another playmaker on offense.

I'm becoming a bigger fan of the Ordick pick every time you post something as clueless as this.

God forbid we just draft good football players.

Another example of why it's a damn good thing the fans dont run the team.

Cue Hostile in 5-4-3-2-1...

SS, memorize this west Texas saying-- "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"...

Then memorize this one of mine-- "he who drafts a two down player in the first round who might well eat himself out of the league is an idiot"...

Pouncey, if they think he can play guard. Otherwise I would suspect a trade down.
