While I'm not a big fan of Rice I wouldn't mind having him in the second. I'm not sure how we trade up very far.

And to be fair to Rice since it may seem I have ragged on him some, he didn't have a very good QB padding his stats.

With the WR depth in this draft there will be some quality left at the 53rd pick or wherfver it is we pick in the second round.

This has to be one of the weirdest posts I've ever read. Are you disparaging Reggie Wayne? The guy is a phenomenal receiver. Better than Terry Glenn, and I really, really like Terry Glenn.

Reggie Wayne's career
http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/235256

I thought the comparison to Wayne was flattery, personally. What I'm saying is teams have pegged him as a career #2 caught in a great system behind one of the greatest WRs of all time. Rice should have a good NFL career, but drafting him to be a #1, in my opinion, is a mistake. People have questioned Wayne's ability to be a featured #1 guy. Rice should and does draw the same questions.

I think the thing to do with Rice is to pair him with somebody talented and see where it goes. That was the crux of my argument.

if we don't take a WR in the 1st, we should definitely pick one up in the 2nd

and which I think you agree w/

Not a bad WR......however, they are usually a reason a player starts dropping

As a Gamecock season ticket holder, I can tell you Sidney will not be a good pro. He will be a GREAT PRO. I have seen every game he played for the last 2 years, and the only reciever I would take ahead of him is maybe Johnson. He make plays that are just incredible, seem normal.
Chris Houston , who shut down the likes of , Jarrett, Meachem, and Bowe, could not cover Rice at all. As far as speed goes, there was another Rice that was not a blazer either. I saw a very average Clemson secondary completely shut out Calvin Johnson this past season. I would take Rice at 22 and there he will be a steal.

He runs in the mid-4.5's and decided not to run at the SC Pro Day, which NFL scouts took as a lack of competitiveness. Because, and lets be honest, he needed to at least attempt to improve those numbers.

He's probably never going to be better than a Reggie Wayne-type number two who can't carry a load by himself. My opinion, of course.

I would take this any day and twice on Sundays!

As a Houston Cougar fan who saw his team's defense get absolutely carved up by Rice in the Liberty Bowl, I would love to see him wind up in Dallas.

Mayock was showing film last night on the difference between Rice and Jarrett when they faced Cedric Houston. Houston was playing tight press man coverage on both. Jarrett couldn't get off the line of scrimmage and into his route. Rice was beating the press and making big plays.

What on earth did you see from Rice in college that would lead you to believe he cant be a #1?

Sidney Rice is better on the field than Meachem ever thought about being.

No doubt this guy is a player. If you didn't watch many SC games this year you may not realize how putrid the QB play actually was. Their starter Mitchell, who is iffy at best, gets demoted for something to do with drinking. They have to call back Sevell Newton from WR to play QB when he wasn't good enough to beat out Mitchell in the first place, and that is why they moved him to WR. Had Rice played for a team with a decent QB man he would have been GREAT. Some team is going to be thrilled to get him.

I'm not a SC fan, but I caught plenty of their games. Rice will be a stud in the league.

More Athletic than Dwayne Jarrett and adjusts to the ball better than most.

I like him as the 3rd best as a WR but he will probably be 6th or 7th taken. Meachum, Bowe, Jarrett might get drafted higher.. but I like Sidney's potential above all of them.

You are all over it man, and I am an NC State fan so I don't care emtionally one way or the other. Had this guy played for So Cal, Texas, Florida or a team with even a DECENT starting QB people would be talking about him in the top 10.

Based on this post, its safe to conclude you have not watched Rice play. I've watched him play of the prior two years and he is an absolute beast. Don't let his timed speed in the 40 jade you. This guy is one heck of a football player. More than the speed aspect, he is extremly quick in and out of breaks. He has very, very good hands. He got buy at S. Carolina on talent alone. He didn't have a good QB, put was clearly the best WR in the SEC East maybe the entire SEC. He is a big play waiting to happen. Based on talent alone, I would only rate Johnson higher. He is not a Ted Ginn Jr speed guy, but he is not Daywne Jarret. What is he, a complete WR.

He reminds me of a bigger Torry Holt.

He may not have that 4.3 speed holt has but he has size, runs crisp routes, and you cant take him out of a game even with a crap QB and double or tripple coverage.
