I friend of mine is saying that Sidney Rice may undergo Hip surgery that could keep him out the first half of the season. Vikes are hurting at WR given Harvin's status as well

that would be a tough blow to them.

Most of that teams best players are all from other teams via free agency or trades so I wouldnt put it past them to maybe get into the mix for some wr around the leauge.

The interesting thing to me about the vikings is that they stink on the road, its like the dirty secret no one talks about with this team. So if they start losing weapons on offense they may lose a couple home games and that puts them imo way behind the packers.

we can trade them roy williams maybe farve will make him good LOL

You aren't kidding about them stinking on the road. It's what makes me want to vomit thinking about how if we had won some games we should have won(Denver, SD, Giants) we would've stomped them last year. They're just nearly impossible to beat in their dome because of the combination of the insanely loud noise, and a couple of guys who are quick off the edge.

Thats why they would even be thinking about Javon Walker. I knew as soon as his name came out that something was up with Rice or Harvin or both.

We play them in week 6.

Clearly he's faking the injury to avoid playing against us.

I can't say I blame him.

He's already had the surgery. Had it yesterday. He'll miss a minimum of 6 games.

Bernard Berrian is looking real good in the late rounds of my FF draft.

Harvin is having major migraine issues as well. I read the Vikes are covering up for something possibly with him. Their Oline is also worrisome for Vike Fans.

I keep thinking Packers, too. Not sure why, though, since they've got problems at RB, OL, and have weaknesses on defense. Minny only really has the short-term problem at WR, and even there it's a deep unit for them.

Sidney Rice undergoes hip surgery

That didn't take long.

Less than ten hours after news broke that Vikings wideout Sidney Rice was strongly considering hip surgery, Chip Scoggins of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports that Rice has already undergone the procedure. Rice confirmed to Scoggins it "went well" via text message. Rice is expected to miss roughly half the season.

The Vikings have every right to be upset with how this was handled. Judd Zulgad of the Star-Tribune was speaking in SIRIUS NFL radio Tuesday as the news broke and speculated that Rice's lack of a contract resulted in the delay to have surgery and that Rice likely opted for the procedure because he's only making $550,000.

Rice practiced all offseason and news of his hip injury came from his agent in early July. The Vikings never showed interest in handing Rice a new deal, so Rice may not have wanted to take any risks by playing before first having surgery.

Florio also points out (on his way to the PFT Daily batcave) that the timing of the decision is interesting in relation to Brett Favre. Would Favre have come back if his No. 1 receiver was out half the season?

Bernard Berrian is a fine deep threat that can help replace Rice, but the Vikings' wideout depth off the bench is now among the league's worst. Percy Harvin's ability to play despite his migraines takes on even greater importance now.
