The obsession with 40 times to validate a deep threat is so annoying and lazy.

-Gallup is a deep threat and he’s dang good at it. How many MG bombs have we seen in his time healthy, a bunch?

-Washington ran a 4.5 at the combine but was one of the best deep threats (and overall WR’s) coming out. In his time in Pittsburgh, he was most effective as a deep threat. In fact, the biggest reason he fell out of favor after his productive 2nd year was due to the offense shifting to a short passing game with Ben’s age. He’s not a great route runner but he gets down the field.

There’s a lot more to being a deep threat than running a 4.3/4.4 at the combine. Game speed is way more accurate in showing us who the deep threats are. Gallup and Washington both have ample tape to illustrate their ability to be real deep threats.

Bringing in a guy who won’t play until thanksgiving makes no sense lol. If the team is on a crash course with the SB and we need more from WR3 then I wouldn’t be opposed. But I think by then Gallup will be in form and Tolbert/Brown will be able to hold it down.
