BONUS - by definition it is not a refundable thing. Besides, the signing bonus is the trade off for teams being able to bail on contracts after a few years and not pay the full amount over the length of the base term of the deal. I believe YES the player would try/practice much harder and the NFL would be better off as an entity........what do you Zoners think? :bang2:
In other words, since the player can't guarantee a team will continue to pay him for the entire 5 years of his 5 year commitment to the team, he is at least guaranteed a certain amount of the money because of the signing bonus - and that's what draws him to your team.
