Signing Cooper just got more expensive

Cooper was going to get paid well regardless. You don't give up a first round pick for a short-term player rental. I always figured Coop would cost more than $16-$17 million per season; the Thielen deal confirms it.

Stupidity to give up a first and not extend him at that time... I don't get it...

There was no rush to. The Raiders already picked up his fifth year contract option before they traded him so he will count "only" $13.9 million against Dallas' cap this year. This makes him a bargain considering he's going to cost around $5 million or more annually here on out; so why not wait until the team has more cap room starting next year?

Go back and read the post at the time. People would have been setting themselves on fire in protest. According to many it was the only smart part of the deal by Jerry!

Thielen is he elite? I know he had a good year but can he be consistent

I have literally never heard anybody say Cooper will get less than 15 million and then you make a thread saying he's gonna get more expensive because a comparable player just got 16 ?

Uh okay ? That just confirms what we all know (Cooper will cost 15 to 17 million depending on how much guaranteed and if it's an extension or new deal).
