Silver Lining: Saints are probably a great team this year

Everyone dismissed the NFC South this year but look out, here come the Saints and Buccs. While darlings like the Rams, Ravens and Bengals are 0-2. There’s always some teams in parity that get overlooked.

Even Aikman blew them off in his weekly show, and of course there was the usual cheese eating in media after our week 1 win. No…. Zimm has not fixed the rush defense, no… we still don’t have a running game, yes… our young offensive linemen will be erratic, and yes… we miss ability to both start and stop big plays with Fergy and Bland out. We should have known. 19 of the 33 points last week were from special teams. And that is the only thing I’m certain of through week 2 - our special teams are lethal.

But some quick interesting facts on Saints:
  • Now in top 5 all-time for points scored through first two games. (‘71 Cowboys also on that list)
  • Going back to last year, Saints have had 3 blowout wins in a row.
  • Saints finished strong second half of last year and are 6-1 last 7 games. Missed Playoffs by a hair.
  • Saints new OC is from the Shanahan tree. Pre-snap Motion in offense has already gone from 33% a snap to 66%. Last to best.
Doesn’t take away from the fact that our Boys still look like they can be outmuscled on the line, but Saints are probably going to blow out a few teams this year with their offense clicking like that if they stay injury free.

Next week we will be rooting for the Saints to beat the Eagles.
They better play like they did against us.

It will be a game our own fans will over react to using it as a measuring stick compared to us.
And in typical fashion the eagles will dominate and we will get Manhandled against Baltimore, right before the site crashes

They certainly looked like a top team.

Well coached and very physical on both sides of the ball.
Their physicality and speed jumped out to me. I’m not happy about how we played, but they played well without a doubt

There is no silver lining when you out and get your doors blown out by a .500 team last year...at home and on national television. Sorry but there is no award for just showing up at the stadium and laying a turd. The only silver lining would have been if our players gave a damn as to what was going on, and it's clear they didn't

Every year is different so I don’t care that they were a .500 team last year. They put up 40+ two weeks in a row. They are going to be strong this year.

What I care about is that we still can’t stop the run and can’t run the ball ourselves. That’s the same problem that led to disaster last year, so we really haven’t improved. We should expect the same or worse outcome as last year.

Silver lining is, it's going to be funny when they lose to a team, maybe we're just the bad team and they're really not that good??

that's always the issue "will they play that way against other teams!" They probably won't, just goes to show how bad we were

The Saints are an improved team from 2023. The Cowboys are not. I could leave it at that.

But I think the Saints will come down to earth. No one is going to take them lightly anymore. The Eagles won't I am sure. The Eagles are a much better team than the Cowboys and will challenge the Saints defense. The Eagles have more talent overall at the skill positions. The Eagles have a better OL. The have a better DL than Dallas. I doubt the Saints will blow out the Eagles like they did Dallas and I am expecting the Eagles to win the game.

Guess what. If you always lose to the great teams, you will never be great. So no, there is no silver lining. Same team as the last 30 years. Save this nonsense for elsewhere

Oh, well that absolutely excuses a second consecutive abhorrent performance at home. The Saints are just good and we are not. Got it

Given this is a week to week league we hope this as cowboy fans but I bet the eagles blow them out that's just the way this league works we'll be scratching our head from week to week 'cause nobody understands most of this does not carry over....

That may be so,

but my silver lining is the fact that look at the records there's a lot of winless teams there's a lot of 1-1 teams like a real lot of one-on-one teams just like us and then there's a handful maybe what 5? 2-0 teams..

My silver lining is it's just a week to weekly it's erratic it rarely carries over and we've had these blowouts one every year sometimes 2IN a year and we still manage to win 12 games and managed to win our division two times in the last three years that shows that this is a week to week league nothing that happened last week carried over this week I mean look the Browns won I mean it's just one of those things and the way we handle the Browns it didn't carry over and I don't think this is going to be any carryover but if anybody really wants to sit on a silver lining it's we've been through this during the regular season and still managed to come out as a top six team in regular season wins regardless of having one of these or more per year.

I mean last year was it the San Francisco game wasn't that our worst game besides the playoff game and we bounced back and did it very well...

I mean wasn't it the year before when Prescott came off his broken hand and we did one of these in Denver also Derek Carr sorta did this to us although it was a closer game and the Thanksgiving game?

I'm not going to go back to 2021 but I bet there was something I mean there's usually one of these games if not 2 per year but one truly one that you just have to just throw under the carpet and move on because I doubt it's going to happen twice in one year.....

I get it it happened in the Green Bay playoff loss and people are gonna harp on that but that was the playoffs that was a different year technically it's for the actual season of 2023 not 2024 so again it doesn't usually carry over that was what six or seven months ago...

And EVERY TIME that the Cowboys play a a really good team, that's what it looks like. There's the not-so-silver lining.

Dak is putrid in those games. San Fran, Buffalo, Detroit, Green Bay.....and yesterday.

This team just can't play against physical teams that can run the ball and play defense.

Baltimore is a physical team that can run the ball and play defense.

The season is effectively over.
