We played about the worst 60 minutes of football ever by the team in recent years and still almost beat the hapless Skins. I'm looking for some silver here. Help me out.

Please discuss.

So we can't beat a "hapless" team? That bodes well for the future.

Here's your silver and I won't revisit it again:

Even after MULTIPLE attempts to flat out give the game away for 59:57, we still had a chance to win on the road against a division rival on the final play of the game.

There is no hope. Time to succumb to failure and hopelessness. Let's get out our collective bowls of rocky road, our best sellers, a box of kleenex and be done with it.....

I need a hug.....boo hoo.

A new coaching staff with a sturdy spine not puppet strings?

A real team would have stomped a mudhole in that sorry team In DC. No silver here.

We are frauds until I see evidence otherwise.

Oh, but we do have a good QB. woops, a little glimmer of silver.

Exactly. I think my attempt to distribute aspirin for this hangover won't go over well with some... sorry bbgun. I'm still just as pissed as you and need some positive reassurance... lol

The defense played well enough to win.

Austin played well.

You'll get some when they beat the Bears, which I'm fairly confident they will. Of course, it's not about beating middling teams like Chicago but rather winning a Super Bowl next February, and they just don't resemble a championship caliber club. Part of it is personnel, and part of it is a penchant for self-inflicted wounds.

Our best special team tackler is also our kicker? Oh wait.............:D

Can't argue any of that...

This. Jerry does just enough to hinder his own team.

The extra preseason game cost us Phillips.

The bouncing around on camp venues, the constant Rowdy-marketing efforts and Hard Knocks sideshows inevitably leads to defocused effort.

Here's a positive.....

It's obvious that Dez Bryant can make a huge contribution, and soon.

We've all heard the "rookie WRs don't usually contribute a lot" spin for years, but he can start and play at a pretty high level right now. The wasted WR screens aside, he made some really nice plays and is $$ catching the ball in traffic.

they can only count it as 1 loss. :laugh2:

We have 15 more to go and must play better than that if this team expect to achive their goals.

1 out of 16 is a pretty big #. Obviously they can overcome it, but every game in the NFL is crucial. That's one reason so many of us hang on what happens each game.

If you look at trying to match last year's record, consider that they can only lose 4 more games, yet have to play NYG twice, Minnesota, GB, Indy, Houston, TN, Jacksonville, and New Orleans, all of who look to be formidable.

The Cowboys have a tough road and gave one away. This is the kind of game that teams that finish 9-7 lose.

I see many silver linings:

- Felix still looks really explosive
- Barber looked like his old self
- Free, *Holland*, Gurode and Davis played well
- Romo didn't give up the ball and came about as close as you can to scoring on a 2 minute drill from about our 20, on the road, against a divisional rival.
- Dez looks extremely promising
- Miles looks like a beast
- Bennett blocked well
- The defense made things tough for McNabb
- All fo the talk for McNabb and he put up a 63.4 QB rating last night.
- Only gave up 4.5 yards per play, which is very good.
- secondary is much better in coverage.

We just have two dark clouds (Garrett and Barron) and I don't know if we can overcome them.

Excellent post. Thanks. That all made me feel a little better and hopefully it was therapist for others.

Garrett: IMO this season should be his last chance to prove his worth. Hopefully it works out. I'm rooting for him but the bonehead decisions have to cease...

Barron: He's non-existent to me. I just can't forgive that sorry excuse for an NFL player. The words NFL and Barron should never be correlated in the same sentence.. hell.. same paragraph.

Silver linig?

These things tend to even out over a 16 game season. So as devestating as last night's loss may be, we're likely due for an equally exhilarating last second win at some point in the season.

Kneeling down on the last play of the first half to go talk about it in the locker room and if Barron doesn't hold on the last play, Dallas wins the game. 2 correctable mistakes wont cost Dallas a shot at the NFC East. Silver lining stretches deep into December.
