"Since its such a deep OT class, we should pass in the first because we can get a good one later"

Ive seen this idea floated a couple times. Seems logical that this should be the case, however often a deep class means runs on a position and you have a large amount of top guys going top 45.

Have a look at what was considered a historically good WR class in 2020. It has a very good chance at being the 2nd best class ever behind only the virtually unbeatable 1996. So far, only 1 player from 2020 taken outside top 35 (Darnell Mooney) has had a 1000 yard season.

To my mind, if you are looking for an LT, the odds you can pass on one in the first and get a good one later are very very slim. If your guy is there at 24, you take him

Same with any position.
Thats the thing. Sometimes people assume because a draft is deep, you can pass on something because you can still get good talent later. Oftentimes it doesnt work out that. TE last year was a good example where the position was deep, but outside Washington slipping the real talent was gone by the mid 2nd

it all depends how the draft board falls in front of us. Like every year.

This…we aren’t the only team that likes to reach for need. The class is also loaded at WR and is a pretty good Edge and CB class.

Fills holes in FA and take the best player that falls.

Not ready to agree with this. In theory it sounds logical. In practice, not all OTs are created equal. Need to see who is there first.

If they re-sign Tyron to another 1 year deal AND Patrick Paul from Houston is around for the 2nd Round pick, that would be lovely...

A good chance that best player available at 24 will be a receiver.

Don't forget the Cowboys like Richards. If they view him as a future starter, they might value OT's lower than you think.

I don’t believe tackle will be in play.

They likely bring back Tyron. Then have Steele, Richards and Waleztko under contract. Thats two starters and depth players

Would love JPJ in the first.

I feel like we always miss out on the Cam Jurgens, Tyler Linderbaums and Creed Humphrey types and they become blue chippers
