So they keep backing up the release date, but the fact that they are releasing trailers now. That's a good sign!

I've got to say though. Sonequa Martin-Green seems to look a bit immature to be a first officer, though so did Will Riker during the first year of TNG. Though, Sonequa seems to work quite well in this trailer, so I'm on board.

I'm excited!

Watched 1st 50 seconds and stopped. Wow, Marbles and toilet seat jokes. I think I will stay offline so I can laugh out loud for another 2 mins.

Seems like the theme for this show (Star Trek comedy spoof) is a rip off from the movie Galaxy Quest.

And just watched the Discovery trailer.

Looks ok, special effects really good. Acting and the characters, nothing that makes me go wow gotta watch that. As for the Aliens (or Star Trek aliens in general), boring. Seen one, seen all.

I guess I'm a purist the Star Trek original with Captain Kirk is my favorite still. I hated the Klingons mutating. I liked them the way they looked back in the day. It was like Fighting a bunch of Terrorists!! LOL!!! Also I can't stand that the women can't be running around in mini-skirts still. Some of those others Star Trek versions kind of got on my nerves.

That Voyager with that female Captain made me want to puke. It was like watching Katherine Hepburn in space.. Any pretty woman on the show would have to have a bunch of crap on her face and that ticked me off.

If I could do it and make a Star Trek series, I would have made all the women look like Victoria Secret models. Adriana Lima in space showing off her legs sounds good to me!!! Some smoking hot Asians babes, Smoking Hot Italian chicks and Sexy Latinas and every blonde chick has to be 6ft tall and every chick has to have long hair. Ethiopians and Indians could be the Klingon babes that Captain Kirk Jr. would be chasing .WHO'S WITH ME????

Ohhhhh that looks pretty good. Still sucks that it is a CBS internet pay.
That's exactly how I feel. Discovery may be the first Star Trek series I have ever boycotted because of an 'all-access' tag.

I really liked Janeway and Voyager, I think that Kate nailed the right amount of qualities in a captain that was both strong and caring.

As for DIscovery, sigh... my only hope is this is another "parallel universe"/bad dream thing that bridges the JJ Abramificationverse to a real Star Trek Universe. One can hope.

Voyager irritated me,they made the men look like that were not as smart or mentally strong as her and the other woman like the Klingon. The men had flaws, they were like one evolution over neanderthals and Janeway was so much smarter and the Katherine Hepburn look just doesn't do it for me.It really grated on me with her voice too.. Also some of the aliens were annoying. That other guy who played on "Benson" that short guy, his alien was annoying. I wanted some monster come and eat him. This cute fuzzball quirky alien stuff maybe good for an episode but a whole series NO.. I'm not politically correct and I rather liked that men were badasses and this" We win through Science and Logic" storyline. Screw that!!! You don't agree with Captain Kirk and he will kick your *** and steal your green girlfriend. The original Star Trek was based a lot on Westerns and that is what is missing. The fight scenes, that aliens can be evil, that strong will to survive.....Also I hated the last Star Trek movie Sulu has to be gay??? Why??? Even George Takei didn't believe that should have happened.. I never liked the idea of Lt. Uhura be in love with Spock either... The stupid scene playing the Beastie Boys songs was stupid.... It is why I do not go to comic-com events. The nerd chicks are cool because some are sexy but some of these guys annoy me. I am a former Marine and some dweeb thinks he is a badass because he put on a wolverine costume with foam muscles??? Just like I never liked "Lord of the Rings"

Just watched the trailer for Discovery. They keep trying go before Kirk and somehow the babes are not in mini-skirts. It will not make it really big. Hopes it does well and does not become a bunch of politically correct crap. The graphics look really good, but not sure it be as good as The Original... Man let me be the writer for this.

20 years after the original series is the timeline. The Klingons have not mutated yet and not our allies.

At least the aliens were not as bad as the ones in Star Wars like Jar-Jar. I saw many times in Voyager where the guy is "saving the day" it was a character and story driven show. If you like shooting at giant robots there is always the new Transformers and Pacific Rim is about to have a sequel although those are not real sci-fi in my book, they are action movies with little in the way of story or characters. I don't see her voice as that bad of a turn off, granted it was old school Hollywood style, but it was at least not some high pitched warble or whatever.

And yeah the Uhura thing was one of the more dumb things I saw in that movie, btw I don't even remember anything of Sulu being gay, then again that movie as a whole was pretty forgettable.

No I like some evil alien rivalsl. We are fighting for peace in the whole universe while they want war and chaos. The Klingons were perfect in the original because you could see they were similar to humans but had a very darkside to them, but a hope they could become our allies. They infiltrated a spy looking like a Vulcan. That was cool!!! Also I don't mind characters but sex and violence sells. Woman loved Kirk and men loved to see the girls in the mini-skirts. Guys wanted to be Kirk. It is why I think Picard never really worked as good as the original. It had its moments but Picard couldn't punch his way out of a punching bag and he couldn't even draw a fat chick to fall in love with him.

Remember Sulu met up with that other Asian guy and his daughter. Sulu was implied to be with him.

Spock's half-human with a human mother (Jane Wyatt/Winona Ryder). To me, it seems natural that Spock would lean the same way as his father romantically in an alternate timeline.

Oh, it was more than implied in Star Trek Beyond in my opinion. :laugh:Takei character's orientation was slightly implied as far back as the original series' The Naked Time episode. I do understand Takei's reluctance about the distinction being made in the latest franchise. Abrams is making slight changes in his story's timeline in relation to the one Takei helped established during his acting career.

Such a great franchise going all the way back to the sixties. I've always thought Star Trek shows and movies were a cut above. On a related note I just picked up the entire Enterprise set on Blu-ray. When it first aired I didn't care for it as much as the others but I'm watching it again and it's much better than I remembered.

I must be the only man in America to have never seen Star Trek of Star Wars when they came out. I did, however, used to watch Lost in Space.
