Since the draft is fairly deep at CB and RB, lets fill these needs day 1........

and not get cute!

I keep reading that compared to other positions there is good RB and CB talent depth in rounds 1 and 2. I hope we don't try and get too cute (make 10 moves). NO excuse not to fill these needs with value picks if we have this opportunity. So what if we take a guy we need at 22 if he is the 25th best player. Realistically every team takes NEED into consideration each pick, even if everyone dreads drafting for need.

Just feel that our secondary and backup/sharing RB are 2 biggest glaring needs and it seems there is lots of quality guys at both positions in draft with little consensus as to how much better the top guy is than the next and next at each position, at least for the first 40 picks or so, or 5-6 deep at both positions.

With 3 picks Day 1 we should be able to get guys with good upside and the ability to step in right away and play some meaningful snaps.

I dont understand that logic.

If this class is deep at rb and cb then why take one so early.

because then you are playing with fire. What happens if a run of corners or running backs happen before we pick in the later rounds? Then we are screwed.

Oh look, it's the Canuck thread!! As another resident of the Great White North I will state that the best value at those two positions is between 20 and 32. Take the best talent at that point. There will be a wideout at the end of round two that can contribute and be part of the future.

Yeah I agree, If we can get a good CB at #22 that would be ideal then we can try and trade #28 for Roy, or trade it down into early 1st for RB..

I'll rephrase. CB and RB are consensus opinion deep in day 1 (this year only RD 1 and RD 2). With our 3 picks where they are, no excuse not to fill our two glaring needs with good value at each position.

Easier to do this because there are "apparently" 5 or 6 solid picks at both positions. No excuses not to fill our needs at those 2 spots.

In comparrison WR's of 1st round value are "apparently" limited. Less solid picks here. Plus how many spots do we have on roster here (Yes, i am one of the people that says we need another talented young one). But here, I can see not getting cute or desperate in day 1.

If we go and take a middle linebacker, well fine, but ouch!

Jerry does love to gamble and to trade around. He's good at it. He also knows it doesn't always work. But it's fun and nervewracking to watch. I think he wants to move around a bit today. He can't help himself.

Yep, I am a Canuck. (Yes, I realize you might have been sarcastic)

I used to just post by Larry on this board and another board, but then another guy posted by name of "Larry" and he was a tad controversial and didn't tend to share the same opinions as I so I thought it would be wise to differentiate myself.

Vancouver, BC Canadian.

But I watch all the Cowboys games, been a fan since the '70's, and went to 2 of the last 3 Training Camps in Oxnard, and might again since it seems to be back there.

Die hard, since the Staubach and Tony D days.

I say draft the best player available regardless of position....

So if Chad Henne is our highest rated player on the board at 28 then we draft him?

To me, the BPA argument is always subjective to position need. You filter BPA through your team needs and go from there.
