Since Week 3, the D has allowed every opponent to score on their opening drive

Last season the Cowboys defense led the league when it came to preventing TD's on an opponent's opening drive. They allowed only one TD.

They also allowed only 4 field goals.

The Cowboys defense in 2022 also took the ball away 3 times. The opponent had to punt 7 times. Then there was 2 missed field goals.

I think that was true of the defenses built from 2017-2021.
However I think the 2022-2023 defense has proven it can be suffocating if need be.

Also, I wish sometimes we would open the game in two deep safety looks more often.

We have seen this all season long, defense struggles on the opening drive:

-Giants anemic offense drove straight down the field in which we bailed them out with a FG Block.
-Cardinals had a TD on their opening drive
-Patriots could of scored an opening TD, but had to settle for a FG.
-49ers had a TD on their opening drive
-Chargers had a TD on their opening drive

That's 5 of the 1st 6 games in which they gave on points, 3 of them gave up TD's. That isn't a way to bail out an offense that has had it's struggles.

Thank you a post about the defense and one that took some thought.. How dare you start a post about the defense and the reasons why we're playing from behind and how the conservative Texas coast offense isn't working This is why it was supposed to compliment hey defense in close games keep them off the field by not making the big mistake and we have not the first half have been clean for the most part especially from #4... So yeah a bigger problem this year especially in our two losses is on the defense and nobody wants to admit it they keep going back to the offense and I'm tired of hearing it they built this offense on purpose to be conservative now they have to make a left turn and redo it a little because the defense is not all they were bill to me this year absolutely not they did this last year in the middle of the year as well where Prescott had to come in and save this defense from themselves because they couldn't stop the run the points went way up I mean you know some of this is Dan Quinn he's kind of like the Kellen Moore of defense yes I said it where he's always wanting his team to have sacks and interceptions and fumbles and that's what they're built to do but when they don't get those the defense is very average,,

I mean literally that is why you put the greatest defense in sliced bread on the field first so they can make a statement and instead they're getting boat raced from the beginning to the end.. Seem to be that way when they come out of the halftime too I mean if you look how easy they scored twice and the 49er game it was at the beginning of the game and the beginning of the half it's like they're not making a statement and they can't say they were tired because these are when you've had the longest rest...

There are issues on both sides of the football, not just the offense struggling.

Don't worry about it we need more posts like this because everything seems to be about that one guy on our offense or the head coach or the offense and on a hole but really this defense has been a total disappointment in the two losses especially but they're literally have us playing from behind real early in every game that is not how we we're prepared to build this team this year...

And by the way this is not new for Dan Quinn I know everyone wants to bill him as the next head coach here but I'm not sold I say if you're gonna blow this team up and get rid of McCarthy possibly not have the same quarterback you get rid of all of them you start over you do not allow Dan Quinn to be left over and be the head coach when he has no great history of being a head coach... I mean imagine his defenses are having these little lapses throughout the season when his focus is taken away as a head coach he's gonna look like what defensive coordinator you know the Atlanta Falcons that gave up the most blown leads in football that year or his history is giving up Leeds that is not a good thing...

I don't think the help needs to come from the outside they can shuffle around the way they use the running backs, get more targets to Cooks, add more motion to the WRs, get Polard back fresh and dangerous by cutting his role back, they can hopefully change the scheme a little bit on offense, call the games bit better on both sides.

It's time to put up or shut up on both sides for a run I want to see a really good consistent play the next four games... Especially beating the Eagles would go a really long way to shut some of the fans up as well lol
