Since when does one player cause someone to give up on being a fan or their team?

I have never been a Cowboy fan......the only reason I have followed them for them for 45 years is because.....I like the Cowboy Cheerleaders.

They went down hill during the Campo years but the have rebounded during the Parcells tenure.

TO and any other player had better not mess w/my cheerleaders.

and I'm the biggest lier in South Texas......:D

Some people just won't ever get it. TO didn't commit murder....he wanted to be paid like the best WR in the league.....WHICH HE IS/WAS. Hypocrite is the first word that comes to mind when I think about a lot of the members here. We all wanna be paid according to what we're worth....TO just had the balls to stnad up for himself and let it be known.

I agree, I always want Dallas to win. I did when Duane Thomas was here even though I hated the guy that did not change how I felt about the overall team.

Good analogy. Hopefully Owens tenure will be a lot less rocky. One thing's for damned sure the man is a competitor and Parcells is going to love that aspect of him.

If the worst person in your neighborhood is "bad"; it doesn't matter if he's thought of that way because he committed murder or just picked someone's pocket. The media has told us Terrell Owens is "bad" and thus it is so.

Will he have a chance to change your mind, Dooms?

I have a feeling he'll be a solid citizen in Dallas and maybe even a team leader. A lot of players, particularly WR's have major issues that they end up overcoming in their later years. TO's have been hyped more than everyone except Michael Irvin's.

Cris Carter, Ray Lewis, Eric Moulds, Chris Chambers, Randy Moss, Plaxico Burress, and our own Michael Irvin, Keyshawn Johnson, and Terry Glenn-- all have had to shake off the "cancer" or "bad attitude" label.

Yes he will. If he can prove himself as a member of this team and not a distraction to this team. I have said before he has to prove it to me because based on his stint with the only 2 teams he has played for he is not going to get the benifet of the doubt from me why should he get the benifet of the doubt? 1st go around in SF I could chalk that up to just an isolated problem but after the 2nd time no I consider him a big problem and until he proves himself I will continue to have major doubts about him.

By crying racism and using bigotry, ahhh yes - all of us do this in the workplace to get a better salary.

Sorry, understand what you're trying to say - but this isn't just a problem child ala Moss/Irvin, etc. This guy is a problem and will is almost assured of being a problem here who will divide the clubhouse, just like he did in Philly.

Since that player represents everything that is wrong with not just sports, but indeed the entire world today.

I keep reading these comments from Dallas fans that if TO comes that they will root against the Cowboys and hope they fail. How the hell were any of you that feel that way cowboys fans before? I really dont like the "Im a better fan than you" stuff but there is a point where Either your a fan or not. One player isnt bigger than the whole team. You dont have to love every player on your team.

What kinda fan just FLIPS to the other side to actually rooting for your so called team to LOSE over one player? amazing. I cant believe some people are saying they hope Dallas goes 0-16 if TO comes. how insane this is.

I fully agree, if you hate TO fine, some like me, are pissed that TO is coming, but when he puts on tthe uniform and starts catching balls, he will be my favoirte players in the game. if you bleed Blue and Silver, then it doesnt matter if they sign saten himself, you should stll root for them. It just means u get to talk about the owner, and the coach at every turn satan does something wrong :)D:D)

I didn't want him, but now that he's here I will root for him. It's that simple, once a Cowboy he becomes part of the team I love.

I agree. If this was Bill Romonowski we were talking about I would not want that idiot either.

First, I think that TO thinks he is bigger than any team.
Secondly, you state that you don't like the "I'm a better fan than you" stuff and then demonstrate that you do believe it because you question other people's loyalty. Thirdly, a lot of people say things in the heat of a controversy that they change once things settle down. Fourthly, it is their right to make whatever decision they want to without all of these johnny-
come-lately, wet-behind-the ears fans that I have been reading about that have developed a criteria of who is and who isn't a fan. Of course they are the sole judges of that.

I posted this in another thread, but I think it warrants mentioning here...

Way 'nuff said:
I agree.

If you're a cowboy fan like I'm a Commander fan...you've spent money on jerseys, hats, sweatshirts, tshirts and other stuff...you spend every sunday planted in front of your tv. it doesn't matter if a nuclear holocaust is going on, nothing will make you move from that tv. you pay steep prices to get to games, steep prices for food and you don't mind because you're there, you're watching the team that you adored since you were a kid and you're having the time of your life.

Every day during the week you look forward to Sunday to put on your teams colors and devour the newspaper looking for the smallest tidbits on news about the team. You act like when someone goes down with an injury like its a family member and get on your teams messageboard and rant and rave, argue, agree and analyze every aspect of the game to death. If you're not at the game, you've got your laptop or your PC nearby the TV and your fingers are cramped because you're typing so fast in the game thread.

So you're really going to let TO ruin all this for you? All the time, effort, energy and money you've invested into being a Cowboy fan?

I hesitate to call anyone a "fake fan" but seriously....the way some of the fans here are acting is really sad.

A real Cowboy fan is a Cowboy fan no matter who plays on the team. We will grit our teeth and watch not only how he plays but also how he conducts himself in relation to his teammates and the coaching staff. If he doesn't hurt the team by his attitude, he will win us over like Haley & Keyshawn did but, if he hurts the team and causes division, don't expect us to sit quietly while it happens. If he's good, I'll come here every week and praise him and apologize for all my doubts; but are you and others (who so desperatly want him & believe Jones/Parcells will do wonders with/for him) also come on & accept your licks.

Finally I probably haven't read all the TO postings cause frankly I'm already tired of them. I know people have said they didn't know if they could root for the Cowboys because of TO. I just ignore that cause most of us know these people are real Cowboy fans & will be rooting for the Cowboys now matter what. We didn't leave during bad times in the past and we certainly won't leave even for TO. Unlike you, I certainly don't recall anybody posting they hope we lose because of TO coming here. Please tell me who posted so I can read. Thanks.

Finally, what's going on here? We aren't allowed to express our concern re acquisition of TO and damage he could do to our beloved Cowboys? We aren't allowed to express our concern over failure (admittedly only 1 week into FA) to acquire a K, FS, RT, TE who can block, depth at LB, depth at WR even before Keyshawn was cut, etc. I understand some of you think we too impatient or somehow think we want Jones' to overpay if necessary to acquire players; but you also won't listen when we say repeatedly we don't want him to overpay. We just want to see a little more things going on then the very little activity we've see to date.

If fans flip because they don't like TO, they obviously think he's bigger than the team too... Just reinforcing that mindset
