I usually avoid NFL radio until 11 because I can't stand Papa and Cross, but my dumb ***, I hadda listen to them this morning, and as usual, the pissed me off. So I sent them this email, which will amount to nothing but made me feel better.
Hello.
I'm a long-time Dallas fanatic and I absolutely HATE it when people call or email you guys and complain about your opinions of the Cowboys. It makes us all seem like a bunch of whiners. But what I object to is when you say silly things like "The Cowboys are built to win now." Well, doesn't everybody want to win now? The reality is that Dallas was the second or third youngest team in the League last year. That indicates to me that the Cowboys are built to win now as well as in the future.
I gotta admit, I was a little bit irked that the Cowbays didn't grab a receiver at some point yesterday. But it always cracks me up how Jerry always gets all the blame and none of the credit for the failures and successes of the team. To paraphrase Papa from yesterday, "The Cowboys better win now because Parcells is gone and Jones is back in charge." Well, would it affect your opinion at all to know that Jerry wanted to trade up to grab James Hardy in the second but was out-voted by his personnel guys? When you make your assessments, do you consider guys like Jacob Rogers and Jason Peters who were high-round Parcells picks who turned out to be total busts? How about all the "Parcells guys" Big Bill brought in in free agency and amounted to nothing, like Fabini, Anderson, etc? The only free agent Pro Bowler the Cowboys have seen is Terrell Owens, and according to "the experts," that was a total Jerry call.
As far as Fasano and Ayodele go, sure, they'll start for Miami, but so could scads of second-string players on other teams. Doesn't make those players any better or worth any more than they really are. Fasano was a second round pick, sure, but he was picked by Parcells, and just because he went in the second round it doesn't mean he fits what Jason Garrett wants to do. Word out of Vally Ranch is that he doesn't, but that's another debate. Zach Thomas' durability is a question, for sure, but Wade wants to get Burnett on the field more, and when it comes to the talent on the team and how to use it, I figure Jerry and the Dallas coaches know a heck of a lot more about it than you or I, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.
