If this is true the Dolphins are going to get in trouble.

I don't think the team can hire him until B.P. interviews a minority. According to profootballtalk.com, the team has not, so the hiring may come next week.

I'll get this out of the way first: I believe that Tony Sparano will be the next head coach of the Miami Dolphins. But to follow on Todd's post, which says it's not over yet, I'd take you back a year to the Steelers coaching search.

In that case, then-Pittsburgh offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt and line coach Russ Grimm were considered the only thoroughbreds in a two-horse race. Then-Vikings defensive coordinator Mike Tomlin was supposedly brought in to satisify the Rooney Rule.

What happened? Tomlin blew the Steelers away. And Whisenhunt and Grimm were off to Arizona. Not saying that's going to happen again, but I'd say that until the interviews are complete, you can't rule out someone else coming in and stamping himself the right man for the job.

It's a no-brainer, once Cameron was axed by a general manager that admitted he didn't know him, Sparano was the guy

But Pittsburgh wrote the rule and thus were open-minded about coaching candidates in the first place. I don't see the same thing happening with Bill Parcells. He will probably interview Carthon as a head coach/OC candidate to satisfy the Rooney rule, but Sparano is their man and always was

I believe he has been offered the job on the hush hush.

I believe the whole process of interviewing other candidates is a sham and always has been. Just like the Vice President of Football Operations" title meant Parcells was going to let Ireland handle everything football related.

I believe he probably accepted the job, of course "after all the post season and interviews are done." Wink wink.

I believe he will be their next Head Coach and that nothing about the under the table offer and acceptance will ever be done.

I believe he'll do a pretty good job for Parcells in Miami and deserves a chance to have this job.

Good post Hos

To me the issue isn't so much their head coach but their OC. It will interesting to see if Parcells hires Carthon or another "Parcells guy" as the puppet OC only to have Sparano or some other coach be the real OC.

Parcells didn't just do this with Dallas. He did the same with the Jets when Groh was the puppet DC with Bellichek, the secondary coach, being the real DC.

I wonder if he will hire a legitimate OC or another one of his buddies as the puppet

Do they have to interview a majority candidate before a minority candidate is signed? Is there an official list of races and percentage required for each group? Would being 1/256 Cherokee count? Is it on the honor system or is a blood test mandatory?

I know it's not a popular opinion in here, but we should stop blaming Tuna for raiding our team. The bottom line is that this guys who are leaving us are doing it because they want to and/or because Jerrah is allowing it to happen. They are the only ones to blame. Had any of them wanted to stay in Dallas and Jerrah wanted them to remain working for the Cowboys, they'd still be Dallas Cowboys' employees today. Tuna is doing what any other CEO would do, and that is get the best talent he'd feel comfortable working with. He's not putting a gun to their heads, he's not holding their families hostage, he's not blackmailing them into taking the jobs.

If they want to go, fine, best of luck and see y'all down the road. If they're going because Jerrah doesn't think they're important enough to do everything posible to keep them, short of turning over ownership of the franchise, then he'll live with the consequences. Either way, the franchise will survive, just like it survived the end of greatness ( Tom Landry ), the departure of tremendous accomplishments ( Jimmah Johnson ), and the conclusion of rebirth ( Tuna ).

For me, It's not about Tuna hiring our staff, but it is about following the protocol of hiring. If there is a certain guidelines set for hiring staff then during a season, then it should be followed.

Maybe this will teach Jerry another lesson. When someone like Tuna leaves when there is still time left on the contract, the Cowboys need to specify that that coach or front office person cannot raid our personnel for the length remaining on the contract he just vacated. This should be a rule anyway. Tuna should not have been able to raid our personnel for at least another year.

By encouraging coaches to consider their options, the Cowboys enhance their reputation as an organization that encourages the development of personnel. Jones has indicated that very thing. I t can bring us talent that wants the opportunity to win. The Cowboys show that they are a class organization and a good one to work for.

Anyone remember how much panic there was on this board last year when Wade had to assemble much of his staff late in the hiring season and we were all concerned we'd end up with scraps? I recall Wade saying in an early press conference that there was no shortage of good coaches in this league, and that the trick was in assembling talented people who could work together and that they obviously were better coaches when they had better players. The same goes here.

I'm more concerned about having to replace quality cogs to our scouting team than I am about replacing coaches. It can obviously be done, and Jerry's shown over the last several years that he's able to make shrewd hires; it's just that the uncertainty is uncomfortable.
